Review by Tammy from Fallen Angel Reviews, May 1, 2006
This review is from: Share No Secrets (Mass Market Paperback)
Share No Secrets is a fast paced suspense that is centered around the town's hotel, La Belle Riviere. Some of the locals believe that the hotel is haunted but, can that explain all the mysterious events that seem to surround the town's grandest hotel?
After famous model, Julianna Brent's body is found by her best friend Adrienne Reynolds and Adrienne's daughter in the closed down hotel, it seems that danger isn't far behind. Adrienne is still reeling from the horrifying discovery of finding her best friend murdered when she figures out her own life may be in danger and learns that everyone has a secret. But is it too late to protect herself and keep her daughter, Skye, safe.
Carlene Thompson has created an action filled read with plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end! This story is highly detailed with an array of in depth characters that are smart, funny and engaging. I felt that Ms. Thompson truly captured the feel of small town life and made you care about the characters she created.
Share No Secrets is one of the best stories this reader has picked up in a long time and I highly recommend it for anyone who's looking for a book that they can't put down.

an intelligently written thriller, September 13, 2006
This review is from: Share No Secrets (Mass Market Paperback)
I love a well-written thriller. Unfortunately, many thrillers are not well-written. They tend to have two-dimensional characters who are exceptionally lacking and common sense and the writing is often riddled with grammatical errors. Often they are thinly disguised romance novels. "Share No Secrets" is a really good book: the plot is very suspenseful, the characters are well fleshed-out, and the reader really feels they are in the small town of Point Pleasant, WV. Three girls grew up together in Point Pleasant, Adrienne, Julianna, and Kit. They are grown up now: Adrienne is an widowed artist with a fourteen-year-old daughter, Julianna is a burnt-out supermodel, and Kit owns a successful restaurant. Kit's mother owns a historic grand hotel with a tragic history. Kit, who loves the hotel, has commissioned Adrienne to make a painting of the hotel before her mother has the hotel demolished because of her superstitious fear of the deaths that have occurred there over the years. But Julianna has been using the empty hotel to meet a married lover. Her dead body is discovered by Adrienne in a bed in her favorite room, surrounded by scented candles. Now Adrienne, who knows too much, is being stalked by Julianna's killer. There are many suspects in the small town. Could it be Julianna's ex-husband, her sister, a jilted lover, or even her old friend Kit? "Share No Secrets" is the first book I have read by Carlene Thompson. I will definitely be reading more.

Engaging Read!, January 27, 2006
This review is from: Share No Secrets (Mass Market Paperback)
Artist Adrienne Reynolds and her daughter Skye are in the wrong place at the wrong time. On the grounds of La Belle Riviere, Point Pleasant's grandest hotel, the widowed mother and hometown girl is working on a painting. Adrienne is trying to capture the shunned hotel before the building is demolished. While she works, her dog unexpectedly chases someone into the woods, and Skye follows after the beloved pet. The unknown person gets away, but the dog eventually leads them to a gruesome discovery. Inside one of the hotel rooms, they find Adrienne's friend Julianna Brent dead. It looks as if Julianna was meeting a secret lover.
Julianna's affair is just the beginning of the secrets to be revealed. Trying to understand her friend's brutal death, Adrienne begins to delve into the hidden lives of the town's residents. It seems that almost everyone in Point Pleasant has something to hide. As her investigation progresses, strange things start happening to her. Believing she must do what she can to unlock the mystery, she puts herself and Skye in more danger. Adrienne hopes to untangle the web of deceit before it is too late.
Share No Secrets is an engaging read. With many twists and turns, it is an intricately crafted whodunit. There are many players, all whom have a shrouded, yet believable life. At times I was frustrated by the large cast of characters, but I was simply impatient. I could not identify the murderer. Whenever I thought I had it figured out, I was lead down another path with new clues. I connected with Adrienne and wanted her out of harms way. Ms. Thompson kept me guessing until the final, climatic revelation. Lovers of intelligent murder mysteries will want to pick up Share No Secrets.
