This book lives up to its name. The content is simple yet importantly powerful. It deals with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and gives insight into how to be effective in sharing this message. Greg Laurie's comparison of fishing to sharing one's faith is accurate and humorous. The most impressive aspect of this book is its emphasis that the desire to witness (sharing...

This book lives up to its name. The content is simple yet importantly powerful. It deals with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and gives insight into how to be effective in sharing this message. Greg Laurie's comparison of fishing to sharing one's faith is accurate and humorous. The most impressive aspect of this book is its emphasis that the desire to witness (sharing the faith) must be given by God. The short length of the book makes it readable for any Christian (young or old).

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential tool, March 22, 2000
This review is from: How to Share Your Faith (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book because it highlights those subtle intricacies that new believers and/or those who haven't done much if any witnessing, should know. What to look for, bring out, and how to close the deal are vital topics for sucessful witnessing. He also clearly explains why a decisionfor Christ should not be delayed, in a way that can be easily duplicated. The explanations and use of Rev. Laurie's sometimes comically persented personal experiences bring this info down to the place where all ages and backgrounds can understand it, especially teens. Lastly, the book, like Rev. Laurie's preaching is so down to earth that anyone wanting to learn will and those who don't will be left questioning what they really do believe. I highly recommend the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars How To Share Your Faith, October 8, 2010
This review is from: How to Share Your Faith (Paperback)
"How To Share Your Faith" by Greg Laurie is a concise title on how Christians may share their faith in Jesus Christ with others. Among the points covered include:

1. Effectively sharing your faith begins with a God-given burden.
2. Only God can bring about a true conversion.
3. Sharing the Gospel requires patience.
4. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's timing and always be ready.
5. Different methods work with different people.
6. Often the best form of evangelism is listening to people talk about themselves.
7. When witnessing, use tact and try to avoid arguments.
8. Reasons why a person will come to faith in Christ.

An encouraging read that challenges Christians to be bold, yet tactful and loving, when sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others.

Recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars A short guidebook to Christian evangelism, June 3, 2005
"How to Share Your Faith," by Greg Laurie, is basically an instruction manual for evangelization from a Christian Fundamentalist perspective. The book is a Billy Graham Library Selection. It's 75 pages long, and divided into 15 short chapters.

Laurie covers a number of topics: teamwork in evangelization, how to get people's attention, the importance of tact, the value of memorizing Scripture verses, sharing one's own testimony of faith, etc. The chapters have titles such as "Patience and More Patience," "The Cornerstones of the Gospel," and "A Decision Deferred Is No Decision." Laurie enlivens the text with some personal stories about his own experiences. Along the way he quotes Alexander McClaren and D.L. Moody. Laurie's admiration for C.H. Spurgeon is evident, as he quotes him a number of times.

Overall, it's a straightforward and easy-to-read book. But it has its questionable points. Particularly troubling are the passages in the book exploring why some people are resistant to evangelization. For example, he raises some of the hard questions skeptics ask, such as "How can a God of love send people to hell?" But I found Laurie's responses to be weak.

Laurie also adopts a very judgmental and negative view towards those who don't accept his version of Christianity, saying that many "hide behind excuses" or "just don't want to change"; his simplistic analysis ignores the fact that there are millions of people who simply are honestly not convinced by Christian Fundamentalist rhetoric. He also ignores the fact that there are millions of Jews, Buddhists, secular humanists, and adherents of other belief systems who are as committed to their faith as he is, and may in fact have gone through a challenging "change" to reach their current stage in their faith journeys. Thus some of Laurie's counsel seems more prone to reinforce barriers than to foster meaningful dialogues. Despite these weak points, however, I would recommend this book to Christian Fundamentalists who are interested in evangelism.

This short handbook by Greg Laurie is real easy to read but not real easy to use.

There are very few suggested "scripts" or "prayers" that you can actually use to Share Your Faith.

I know our speech should not be "canned" but rather lead by the Holy Spririt.

Having a few sample prayers and things to say to an unbeliever would really have been more helpful.
