Customer Reviews

So easy to use and it has great suction.
JL
My only little complaint is that it tips over very easily, the second I set it down and try to reach a little too far with the hose it topples.
Tracy
The rolling brush on the hand wand is great.

Because with the Shark Navigator Lift-Away (not ext reach) there are 900+ reviews and it is about 4.5 stars. This is the same vac - only with ext reach. So I was skeptical and will be curious how the suction is in about a year or so. In the mean time, here was my first experience. We have a yellow lab that sheds brutally + 2 kids. Hair and who knows what is all over and in my carpet. I am fortunate to say that we have someone clean the house once a week. That being said, I also have a very expensive Oreck Vac. The cleaning woman has a rock star Hoover. We put our house of for sale so in addition to the once a week cleaning, I am vacuuming at least 1-2 more each week. I tried the Shark and what many people had reported also happened to me--I was astounded at the amount of dirt it picked up knowing how OFTEN it gets vacuumed and dusted here.

We had skipped a week in cleaning - but the day I got the vacuum I had spent 45 minutes vacuuming (with the Oreck) and got tired of doing this one particular area where the dog lays. So I went back with the Shark - yes, it took 1-2 swipes with the Shark and it was taking 5-8 with the Oreck and that STILL wasn't getting it all.

I got this at Costco - GREAT deal, least expensive I have seen it. At this price I could have gotten 5-6 sharks for the price of one crappy Oreck. By the way: it is maintenance free-- but that means taking it in. YOU wash the filters after every vacuum. If you invest the time to take care of it, then it will most likely last a long time. Whereas they tell me with my Oreck to take it in every (6?) months? Good grief, who in the heck wants to put their vac in the car TWICE a year to get serviced? Are you kidding? Try building a product that is more sound. I go to the Dentist 2x a year - get off me with the Vac maintenance.

Lastly, my friend had a Dyson and HATED it. Found a shark (different model) and loves it. Just saying that this Vac is worth a try. You can always return it.

This was my third attempt at a new vacuum. I have a small house with mostly wood floors and some low-mid pile area rugs.. Lot's of narrow areas, "nooks and crannies". First I tried the Shark Rocket Pro. Looked nice, but would not do the rugs w/o getting stuck. Hard to use the wands and get much reach. Then a Bissell Powerglide Pet. It sucked in my carpet and the belt burned out. It was also heavy and unwieldy, pulling the wand out from the top gave very little reach.

Now the Navigator Lift Away
Pros : Much quieter than the others I've tried, Sound is more cushioned.
Lighter weight and easy to manouver. Not an ultra light, but ok when you need to pick it up
Narrow main brush. I like a narrow one because it's easier to get in and out of narrow spots. Some like wider since it takes fewer passes on a wide area.
Power brush works well on all my rugs.
Built in wand has a lot of reach, then you can add the optional wands/tools.
**Suction control**. This is what allows you to use this on area rugs that are not nailed down. It's just a simple rotating collar on the base of the handle that lets air out, thus reducing the suction
What I don't get is why don't all the upright vaccuums have this? Duh. Not exactly high tech. Cost to put in is probably pennies.
When I say be careful, is that some of the Sharks, even the Lift Aways do not have this simple adjustment. I'd stay away from them.

Cons: None that come to mind. The cord management system could be better, but most of the uprights are like this. you need to make sure the cord doesnt get in the way.

I've had it a month and very happy w/my purchase. I happened to get it at Costco. I know that many vacuums wind up being returned and didn't want to deal w/shipping anything back to Amazon.

Did a lot of research, this was the one everyone was talking about. I bought it and am ever so glad I did! Amazing suction power. Light as a feather, slim and trim. I can carry it up stairs, w/o huffing and puffing and banging it on the wall as I turn the corner. Absolutely love the way it turns a corner, the swivel action puts no strain on the lower back whatsoever. The power in the attachments is just as amazing, sucks everything up the first pass, none of the old scraping over the same spot, adjusting the angle just to get that one pesky speck. Sweep my floor? Heck no, run that vacuum over my Travertine. Gets in all the cracks and sucks the dirt right up. If I do weep up a mess, I vacuum up the pile so there is no dust pan line left to worry over. The rolling brush on the hand wand is great. Maybe I have been living in the dark ages and this is the norm for vacuums now, if so, hallelujah! It is about time! So happy with my purchase. My son said that it had a small path, but not really, it is just so much less bulky than he/we are used to. I think its suck path is about the same, I don't have to vacuum over half the path each time. I can get in to tighter spots, turn and swivel into places never vacuumed before! The canister pops right off with ease and has power that again amazes me and I so love that it weighs so little. No back strain, I know I said it before, but it means a lot. Buy this one. It is a great vacuum. I am loving mine! The only problem I saw is that because of the size, there is no room on board for the attachments, but i will trade that inconvenience and make a small bag to store them in so they won't get lost. It is worth the trade for less bulk and less weight. Did I mention that I love love love this vacuum? I do!
