For pulling all types of nails,

From 6 to 16 penny. I kept seeing this product used by our subcontractor when he did some major remodeling a year ago. I picked one up to pull a bunch of old shelves down in our garage. The previous owner must have just bought a pneumatic nail gun and was trying it out, judging by how many nails he used to attach the shelving to the walls! This tool had NO PROBLEM removing the nails!!Anyway, the Shark CORP 21-2030 Chrome-Vanadium Nail Puller is 11 3/4 inches long so there's lot's of leverage, with a uniquely shaped "cat's paw" claw at either end. This design easily slides under the head of sunk in nails or onto the shank of headless ones.

I just pulled a headless galvanized 16d out of pressure treated 2x6 lumber where it was dug in like a tick. No problem. Pretty impressive. It also pulls nails with heads with equally little difficulty. Puts regular cat's paws to shame.

I foolishly gave my first one to a fellow worker. Having shopped the local Lumberyards and chain building materials stores, I despaired of ever finding a replacement. I have used a number of different styles of pullers over the years, but this is the best I have found.
