Used it to remove a bunch of moulding w/o destroying the moulding like I would have using a regular prybar. Used it to remove finish nails that were buried too deep to get a hammer claw to pull them. Used it to pull out nails that were missing heads. Hey, wait a minute! This is exactly what the product description says it does. Yep, works as advertised. Amazing :-)Wish I had known they made 10" and 11" inch models (the ... page for this item doesn't crosslink those other models). There were a few times when I wish I had more leverage and the 10" model is only 2 bucks more.

This is made in China and is not as thin and finely tapered as the original Japanese version.
It's OK, but it's a BIG disappointment if you were looking for the original. At this price it should be the gen-u-ine article, Made In Japan!

The Shark is great, but Red Devil is Better,

I take molding and casing apart everyday. While I use the Shark all the time, I reach for Red Devil's Scrape'n Pry Bar #4050 more. Combine the Shark with the Red Devil tool and a 3" flexible scraper (to open up a small gap)and you will be unstoppable!

Believe it ! I can't say enough how useful this tool is. It is the thinnest prybar available . It excells at getting behind delicate moldings without damaging them. You can stand on it with all your weight and it won't give a millimeter. When prying ,put just a little force on it though and it really produces some serious leverage. For removing finish nails it is simply unbeatable. Even if the head is gone this bad boy will rip it right out with its super sharp jaws. It also works very well for scraping paint, caulking, concrete, grout, wood, glue, ice or whatever is on it that you wish wasn't. You can use it to lift drywall into place, the list goes on and on. The bottom line is this. You need this tool. Everyone who sees mine wants one , so you might want to order two or three or thirty.

Indeed, this is changing a 5 star review to a two star. I got one of the last Japan-issue versions, and planned on keeping it forever. However, this didn't pan out. The new China version is very poor by comparison. First, the cat's paw doesn't have the close tolerance of the original. It can't get small trim nails. In fact, the whole effect seemed dramatically different and I gouged the hell out of some plywood (didn't happen with original). Next, the ultra-thin blade is not so thin at all. I have other prybars by Hyde and Red Devil which win handily now in terms of thin-ness. Finally, the blade was actually ground differently on the inside edge, a clear sign of sloppy craftsmanship, it was maybe 3/32 different on one side. Very disappointed in Shark. If you have the best tool and can't cut it as a company, just raise the price, don't become a lesser thing for the same price. Now this bar is in between what it was and something you can buy at HD, and now I have to shop for a proper one.
BTW, if you go to the shark website, and read their PDF on their incredible hand-finished tools, the exact things that are missing are the "V-blade" in the cat's paw they claim grabs the nail. It's closer to a pinched U now.

Beleive it ! I can't say enough how useful this tool really is. It is absolutely the thinnest prybar available. Where it really stands out is getting behing delicate moldings without damage. Yet it's so tough , you can stand on it with your full weight and it won't deflect one tiny bit. It's designed so that when prying ,just a little force turns into some major leverage. Have you ever had trouble pulling a finish nail or one without a head? No more. A tap with a hammer is all you need to get a firm grip on the shank of any nail with the super sharp jaws. It also works very well at scraping paint, concerete, glue, grout, caulking, wood, plastic, ice , whatever is on it that you wish wasn't. I've used them to lift drywall into place. The list goes on and on and continies to grow every day. The bottom line is this. You need this tool. Everyone who sees mine wants one , so you might want to order 2 or 3 or 30.

This truly amazing tool has become my most used (and cherished) handtool. For delicate interior work, it is perfect for removing brads and small nails. You can easily avoid wood dings and mars by placing a solid plate (or the end of a second identical tool) under the pry head. The flat end gives you a very thin (and sharp! be careful) edge which allows you to wedge in between moulding and trim and pull them apart. It's not for demolition work, like a wonderbar, but I find more uses than I could ever have imagined for this fine, precision tool. I bought an extra one for my neighbor, and he has come to same conclusion regarding its usefulness. Don't leave home on a job without it!

Just buy one. This thing is endlessly useful. One surprising thing is how strong the thin end is; you would really have to work at it to bend or otherwise damage it. I can't think of any other tool that is that thin and that strong.

This is one of my top 5 most used tools in my box for remodeling my home. That flat edge is useful for countless projects. Right now I am using it to remove some old tile from our finished basement. It is flat enough to tap under the tile and pop out the tiles in 1 or 2 pieces. My only complaint is that it is small. I jumped online to order the larger version for myself and one for my brother who just bought his first house.

This is a great pry-bar, or cat's paw as they're known at this size. My only initial complaint is that the steel was not quite as hard as I'd like to see--it developed a couple nicks from nails. The blade was also a hair thicker than I'd prefer. All things considered, this was the closest to my ideal I've owned--so good, in fact, that it mysteriously sprouted legs and walked out of my tool bag after only a couple weeks.
