3.0 out of 5 stars not as good as the previous 2 CDs
Not many songs and while they're decent tracks, they're not as good as the stuff off their previous CDs. Worth getting but nothing to blow your mind.

Put this in your player and bounce while you sing along. Also, I'm glad to see that they are getting some much deserved recognition for their live show. Not only is the music tight and on point at their shows, Benji adds another element of entertainment with his sarcasm and wit. If you are up front at one of their shows, be prepared to interact as Benji is not afraid to mix it up with anyone. If you are new to Skindred but enjoy infectiously groovy heavy music and are open to a fresh twist on the ordinary heavy music that you've been hearing for years, buy it. You won't regret it.

I love this group...their unique style, and all out energy have always been a favorite of mine. But, this cd seemed to disappoint me. Just not "fresh" enough for me compared to their other cds. Like the cover of Electric Ave. though. That's about it however....

I've been a fan of Skindred for a while now; and both of their previous albums (Babylon and Roots Rock Riot) got me absolutely crazy over the band. This one is no different. I didn't really get into it on the first listen but now I can say I love this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, they're back, September 24, 2009
This review is from: Shark Bites and Dog Fights (Audio CD)
One of the most original bands on the planet. If it were physically possible, my old Skindred cds would have worn out by now waiting for Shark Bites to come out. Took a couple spins to fall in love with this disc - We NEED more songs skindred! We know you have a lot more, unleash them - we are hungry!

The first two Skindred records for me are miracles: taking the harder Rap/Rock sort of concept into a Reggae style with a very modern hard sound, great use of melody and wild climax type songs. This one they just sort of did the same but without the highlight tracks of the other two albums. The 'Electric Avenue' cover is a clear standout and points towards what they are capable of but there is nothing here that really excited me on what I was my most anticipated album for the year.

It's good in it's own right: brilliant band and the lead singer is incredible, just they have done far better before...

With only 8 tracks is almost like they left off something.

Similar styles for me are Hed (PE), Bionic Jive

5.0 out of 5 stars Radio Friendly, December 7, 2009
This review is from: Shark Bites and Dog Fights (Audio CD)
Skindred is one of my favorite bands hands down, but compared to their other two albums this album is probably more mainstream. I love their original sound and this album does not disappoint, but don't expect this to sound like babylon or roots rock riot. If you accept it for a stand alone album, you will find it more enjoyable. It has more melodic elements to it and sounds a little more like rock than metal. Overall, this album is a nice addition to one's music collection, although on the short side, containing eight songs and only being about thirty-one minutes long.

... this is a great CD. Skindred is very unique in my world, with the reggae/metal combo at full steam. While I've always liked the idea of reggae (the tempo etc.) it always fell short for me, lacking punch. Admittedly, I'm a Shaggy fan, because he can add his own take to reggae and his music is fun too. So that's also the appeal of Skindred to me, their full on "punch" and ability to cause me to always "TURN IT UP" (whoa oh whoa oh whoa). Talented musicians, excellent vocals, and overall a great band. Yes, this CD only has 8 tracks. Would I like more? YES !!! Hopefully they're working on it. Personal favorite on this CD: Invincible (guitar riffs! rhythm).
