5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent "Dust Buster" style vacuum
I've owned this now for a little over 6 months, and we use it more than 5x daily. I have to say it is one of the single best small vacuums for small jobs. We have a litter box in one of our bathrooms and use it to keep the floor clean of stray litter. In additon we use it to pick up dry food scraps left behind by the cats. This unit remains charged at all times on the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the $
The vacuum has decent pick up, but the battery life is terrible and it takes forever to recharge. It reminds me of the original dustbuster that we used to have hanging on the kitchen wall. The price of the vacuum led me to believe it would be a better quality product than it is. I would prefer a small corded vacuum but they are hard to find outside of the very...

This unit remains charged at all times on the wall charger. I found it very useful to place a cheap coffee filter tightly against the factory filter so when it comes time to dump the waste, you can simply peal off the coffee filter and the factory one remains perfectly clear and not jammed with dust.

Considering we only use it for litter/stray food, the suction power is more then sufficient, and will often last 10+ days before needing to be emptied and having the coffee filter replaced. For those giving this a poor review, you need to remember it's not a vacuum cleaner. It will not work wonders on carpet, although at times, I have used it to suck up crumbs from carpet (with and without the brush head). If you want to clean your carpet, or stairs, get a real vacuum. If you want something for small areas, and small jobs, this is perfect.

I will also add that the included instruction manual has directions for replacing the rechargable batteries with generic ones (RadioShack Style). So this item will surely last assuming you don't abuse it. However, with 6 months of use, the batteries show no signs of fatigue.

Very strong suction, works great on pet hair on the couch. The charge doesn't last long at all though. After vacuuming the couch, there was almost no power left in it.

The Euro Shark Hand Vac works especially well in the kitchen for all those small tasks including floor crumbs and sugar spills. My 2 yr. old grandson has become quite adept at helping clean since this vac is so light yet gets the job done.

The price of the vacuum led me to believe it would be a better quality product than it is. I would prefer a small corded vacuum but they are hard to find outside of the very expensive ones. As other reviewers have noted, you can't even finish one simple job on a single charge. It may work fine for very small clean up jobs like picking up the pet food around the bowl, but you can forget jobs that will take more than a few minutes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for me, December 1, 2010
This review is from: Shark Cordless 14.4V Pet Perfect Hand Vac, SV70 (Kitchen)
I bought this vac despite the poor reviews. I let it charge for about 48 hours after I purchesed it, and it works just fine. It has pretty good suction and lasts a while. Other reviews claim to lose power after a while, I dont have that issue, but Im only using it for 15 min at a time or so. My opinion, if you need to vaccum for 30 min or more, you shouldnt be using a battery powered vac anyway. So if you need a quick 10-15 vac job, and dont need to suck up a dead mouse, this is your guy.

This product was given to me for my wedding and at first, it did very well with the long hair floating around the hardwood floors (mine, the long-haired cat, and the golden retriever's) BUT a couple of things that bother me:

1) It doesn't have a perfect charge while attached to a power outlet. big bummer.

2) It only holds a charge off the power source for a few minutes, so I find myself rushing around the house to get to all the corners of rooms before the charge goes out. I live in an 1100 Sqft house. SO that tells you something.

3) Filters are very hard to come by in stores like Target, etc.

I am online now to look at reviews for a replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, August 25, 2010
This review is from: Shark Cordless 14.4V Pet Perfect Hand Vac, SV70 (Kitchen)
Great on my pet hair. I have one long-haired cat and 2 dogs; and the cat sheds more than the other two together. All it took was a few sweeps with this vac, and my dark green sectional was looking amazing. I am hoping to be able to buy an extra cup for it, so I may keep on cleaning when it's time to wash the cup. I used the coffee filter idea, but the cup still needed scrubbed. I wonder what size the filter was? The vac is a little on the heavy side, but I'll manage.

1.0 out of 5 stars CAVEAT EMPTOR - BATTERY PAK SUCKS, August 18, 2011
This review is from: Shark Cordless 14.4V Pet Perfect Hand Vac, SV70 (Kitchen)
Mine was the 15.6V SV70Z and is really not a bad vacuum when it is charged, but that's where the problem is. I have had to purchase 3 new battery paks in the 2+ years that I've owned it. The only place you can buy them is from Shark for $29.95 + $7.95 shipping and even if you completely discharge and recharge them (NiCad) as you should, they just don't hold a charge.

Their CSR's assured me that Shark was aware of the problem and had changed battery suppliers. THEY DIDN'T! I know this because I just removed the battery and opened up the shrink wrap and found the same cells inside. Needless to say, yesterday mine went in the trash and I ordered a B&D Dustbuster from Amazon. I hope it lasts longer and will write a review later.

Fool me once, SHAME ON YOU. Fool me twice, SHAME ON ME. Fool me three times, ??? (can't say that here).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for small jobs, but would like a stand included, July 18, 2011
This review is from: Shark Cordless 14.4V Pet Perfect Hand Vac, SV70 (Kitchen)
This is the first hand-held sweeper I have ever purchased, and I'm really happy with it. I usually do my homework when it comes to buying anything electronic, but this purchase was a bit of a whim. Honestly, the packaging sold me. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the color green, and the thought of it picking up the copious amounts of dog and cat hair left behind from my roommate's pets, had me practically running to the cash register so I could get home and try it out.

Aside from pet hair messes, this vac has been really handy in cleaning out my car. The brush attachment is nice for carpet and upholstery, and the crevice tool is great for all those tiny places that dirt will go, but normal vacuum hoses will not.

The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because it does not come with a charging stand. Granted, it came with a coupon for 50% off one when purchased through their site (making it only around $5), but that's just one extra step for the consumer. I would have gladly paid $5 more if it came with a stand that both charged, and offered a place to store the removable brush and crevice tool.

All in all, a really good product. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

This handheld vaccuum was a gift to me from my parents. they do their research so i assumed it would be great. i hate this thing! it has no suction power so when i'm trying suck stuff up i have to go over it 2 or 3 times. the energy life is terrible and i keep it plugged into the charger nonstop. plus the spinning brush is all tangled with hair and such and i can't get it off. so i'm left with a useless vacuum. can you buy new spinning brushes?
