Excellent on bare floors. I'm not recommending it for carpets. This is the smartest bagless design I've seen; I didn't think I'd find a bagless I liked. Moreover, bagless is overrated because bags aren't much of an inconvenience at all. I researched on line and visited all the stores. Bed Bath & Beyond had this vac for the same price as Amazon- plus I could plug it in there and try it out for real.
Picks: Good dirt-collecting design for a bagless. Light weight. Good suction. Clever wand design detaches from the body for reaching awkward areas.
Pans: Cord is a little short. A little weak at the edge where the wall meets the floor.
This thing picks up cheerios and pet hair, paper clips, staples and anything else I don't want my baby to eat off the floor. It is used daily. The carpet brush is capable of picking up tracked-in debris on the large entry rugs and low pile area rugs. IMO it is too light to be effective on thick pile carpets- even on low pile it takes a few passes to get it all.

I just got this vacuum (from BB&B store because they have a 20%-off coupon = $130 total & I could carry it home instead of waiting for shipping to arrive) & I absolutely love it on my carpets!

It has surprisingly powerful suction for such a compact unit & I even bypassed the Navigator Lift Away (which I planned to get) in favor of this one because I liked how it performed even better than the Lift Away despite its smaller size. It lifts up the nap on my trampled carpets & makes them look new again. This vacuum pulls out so much dirt, dust, hair & fibers from my carpets that my old canister vacuum left behind. The beater brush (which has a button to turn off for use on bare floors) is fantastic.

The dirt cup is large enough capacity for my apt (2 bdrm, no stairs), it empties out easily, & the filter needs only occasional rinsing (every 3 mos of regular use) to maintain its wonderful strong suction. The hose is convertible & comes w/2 attachments which store on the vacuum body when not being used. I love that the brush propels the vacuum across the floor which makes it easier to maneuver & beats all the ground-in dirt & particles out of the nap thoroughly. Dealing w/my old canister vacuum for 10 yrs was such a hassle, I'm happy that it finally broke so I could get a better vacuum! This vacuum actually makes housework a joy & I hope it lasts as long as my old vacuum did - it's made of lightweight plastic (weighs almost 11 lbs) so I'm concerned about breakage of at some time in the future (wheels, brush, or any important connections/latches). Hope it's as sturdy & reliable as it is powerful! So far I absolutely love it. I don't despise vacuuming anymore, now I look forward to cleaning up my carpets & I love that it stores upright in a small corner - no more packing away a canister set into a box each time!

First of all although I am the first reviewing the Shark, Navigator Light (Model NV100) it is the same vacuum as the Shark Euro-Pro (Model NV100) and there are six other reviews there. I went looking for a corded vacuum to use on the middle level of our home that this level is almost exclusively hard wood floors with a few turkish rugs. This vacuum was easy to put together in less than five minutes and really was great to use. I have a Kirby in my downstairs and a Dyson Ball in my upstairs and this little vacuum worked great. I would not put the suction at the level of the Kirby or the Dyson Ball but it was a much stronger level of suction than I expected. The 12amp motor is what I found in many vacuums that were much larger and heavier than this model (also same motor as on Sharks larger vacuums and premium models). We wanted one to throw in our coat closet and it easily made the light work of 2000sq feet of this floor of my home. I used it on carpets at three entry ways into our home (Large LL Bean Water Hog Indoor Door Mats) that the Dyson and Kirby have some difficulty cleaning and the NV100 did it with ease. It was easy to go from just suction on the hard wood to the motorized roller brush with the push of a very conveniently located button. One feature that was the best part was the ability to disengage the "want" at a location that really made it easy to get behind things and in corners. I also used the wand with the small floor attachment to do my stairs and holding the vacuum in my left hand and wand in right I found it very easy to do. One note, this vacuum is amazingly smooth rolling on any hard surface.Read more ›

Verified Purchase
My wife and I purchased this vacuum mainly because it is lightweight and the reviews stated it doesn't loose suction. After using it for about a month of, it comes through on both fronts. It is easy to maneuver on the stairs, lightweight enough to lift up and down the stairs, and all the while not needing to be emptied often. It has functional features and is less expensive than a Dyson. Overall, a great vacuum and well worth the money.

I just bought this vacuum today, so I can't review it for longevity, but it feels sturdy and everything snapped together cleanly. It doesn't have a cheap feel.

I bought mine at Costco for only $95 with their $25 coupon.

It took me about 5 minutes to put it together and within 20 minutes had my 3-bedroom house vacuumed. It was a joy to use something so powerful and lightweight. It's downright quiet on the hardfloor setting and acceptably loud on the carpet setting.

It worked great on my med-pile carpeting, though my canister is still better-designed for maneuvering around and under furniture.

My only complaint is that the hose that is used for the attachments is a little short and has a restrictive feel to it. Using the hose is very easy and convenient though, but reaches hard or high places only by picking up the entire unit. This isn't laborious since it's so light, but could be an issue for weak or unstable individuals. I plan on keeping my canister for when I need to go through the whole house vacuuming ceiling corners, draperies, and other hard-to-reach places.

Suction is excellent and I can't emphasize enough how easy and convenient this unit is. I would highly recommend it to anyone with low to medium pile carpet or hard floors.

This vacuum's slim stature means that it's easy to store and doesn't become a big obstacle if you need to leave it out for a bit. My house is a little small and my large canister vacuum needs a lot of floor space and is a tripping hazard.

It's so lightweight and easy to use that my 5-year-old can vacuum the house too.
