OK, here's the gift for the cook who has everything. I have a white Kitchenaid mixer. I love it, but it looks like everyone's mixer. Not anymore. I saw Alton Brown's mixer on Good Eats one night, googled, and found FlameKA.com. Then I comparison shopped--basically everyone is charging the same price.

I got this one because it looked different from the flames. Also, my husband is a WWII buff, and he got a kick out of this set.

These decals are very heavy duty and thick. Easy to put on, and they're not coming off easily. The instructions provided are fine, but this is so easy you don't need much in the way of instructions.

FlameKA ships fast and isn't a big ripoff for shipping charges.

I know it seems like a lot of money to decorate a mixer, but I am going to have this mixer for a very long time, so break the cost down to a monthly cost, or something that will make you feel better. I spent a lot of money on the mixer, so why not a few more bucks making it special?

One of my Dad's old school chums was one of Clair Chenault's original 100 Flying Tigers (no kidding), so there is a special place in my head for all things that have to do with that bunch. Not only that, but I like off-beat things and what could be more off-beat than a mixer with the most recognized Flying Tiger emblem?

Fairly easy to apply, too.

Some clarification on the item description:

The "red, white, navy blue, and black" are the colors on the decal itself: red stripes, white teeth, black outline, blue numbers, etc. I thought it was the background color and at first was hesitant since my mixer is silver.

There is no background color to this decal, nor is it a transparent background -- this set is actually multiple decals laid out on a sheet in the precise layout you need. You line up the entire sheet at once and apply it as a unit.

It is very easy to apply. You want to take your time and make sure it's lined up correctly, but I probably applied mine in less than 10 minutes.

Love how they look, but unlike the other reviews here my set was a bear to install. The stickers would not stick to the transfer paper, which made them want to wrinkle as you had to keep laying the transfer paper back down to get the stickers off of the backing paper. I dont know if I just got a bad set or something, but I do have a lot of experience installing vinyl graphics on race cars and this was the most trouble I have ever had with them.

We've had this on our mixer for about a year now, it still looks just like new! When our refrigerator was delivered yesterday, one of the guys was checking the mixer out. He said wait is this a special edition Kitchenaid, no it's a decal! Awesome!

Yes, he's right, it's hands-down awesome!

This went on with some effort, took about 10 minutes to get is straight. I gave it a 4 because it should be cheaper, and they need to have more designs choices. It does make my silver mixer look good!

My decal (The Flying Tiger Shark) came in yesterday. I found it very easy to apply, and the directions were very easy to follow. Use the alcohol swab to clean the surface, apply the template, peel the backing, and rub the top of the template to help apply the decals. Doesn't take long.

I would offer one caveat, however. The directions show a template being affixed to a mixer and taped and marked both at the front and the back. On my mixer (photo has been uploaded), when positioned correctly, the Flying Tiger Shark template is a few inches longer than the mixer top, so I just marked the back. I found that making some cuts a few inches long at the front (going front-to-back, where no decals were present) helped me mold the decals around the front curvature better.

The decal definitely livens up an otherwise meh kitchen appliance (It's a STAND MIXER; it's not supposed to be exciting, is it?) and brings a fun element to my baking.

Loved the way it looks. My husband is active duty in the US Navy. It was not difficult to apply the decal and it looks great. Get lots of great comments from others and wanting to get decals for their KA too.

These decals are really heavy and the graphics are crisp. I have received many compliments on my enhanced mixer; even a bit of envy.

The one problem I did have on the application was *static* The over-sheet on which the decal were attached & aligned wanted to stick far quicker than I had expected. I had to reposition several of the decals because of this. One they were firmly in place, there is no moving them.

Ok, so I did not buy this. However there are a few historical issues with calling this a 1942 Navy sticker set.

- The Flying Tigers were originally an American volunteer and later a U.S. Army Air Force unit flying out of China, not a U.S. Navy squadron.

- The red horizontal stripe in the national insignia was not added until 1947. No US aircraft during WWII had these stripes in their insignia.

If sticking with the US Navy theme, probably better off calling this a VF-111 Sundowners F-4B decal sticker, circa 1972. Otherwise an A-10 of the USAF 23rd Fighter Group is more (but not completely) accurate.

Buyer beware, should you be cornered by a military nerd!
