I bought this vacuum recently as I was feeling my older Dyson pet vac wasn't really doing the job. I was absolutely right. Firstly, the Dyson was not sealed and although it has a "hepa" filter, it was losing dust. You could see the dust around the ball and around the base of the body. I vacuumed with the Dyson, brought home the Shark and revacuumed. Incredible! I have a 2 story 1800 sq ft place. The Shark filled up 3 canisters of dirt on the previously vacuumed floors. WOW. I was immediately sold.

The Shark has an on/off switch for the roller brush, lights, cleanable filters, long cord, several attachments including a long wand for under appliances or the couch (priceless) and a small roller that is great for couches, furniture, steps etc. It's so powerful that the roller frequently stops spinning on my longer "shaggy" throw rugs. It also emits no dust. Its clean, tight and quiet keeping the dust in the canister system where it belongs. The small roller works awesome. I used it on upholstery, steps and pet furniture, delighted at how powerful it is and how much dust/dirt it pulled out.

I also like how sturdy the Shark is made. The buttons are firm, the latches are strong and intuitively placed. It feels like a vacuum that will last. The roller ball makes access to tight areas easier and it almost feels self propelled gliding along most areas easily (not so on my throw rugs as described above). My wife has some mild allergies so this vacuum is a god send as we can already see a reduction in dust through using it.

Cons:
None really
Doesn't have a height adjustment? Maybe that could be an issue

Overall:
This is a great must have vacuum cleaner. I can't find any flaws and it works great.

I bought this vacuum at BB&B a couple weeks ago (at the time it wasn't available on Amazon...plus it's cheaper there with the 20% coupon). I have wall-to-wall carpeting in my apartment and a long-haired dog, so I win the jackpot of vacuuming challenges. This vacuum was well worth the money over my previous Eureka Optima.

Disadvantages:
1) My only complaint is that the dust canister is small and so I need to empty it multiple times during 1 cleaning session. But that also shows you how much this vacuum picks up from the carpet!

2) The vacuum is so light that it DOES fall over every time you want to use the handheld accessories. Luckily for me, I rarely use those tools since I have a separate pet hair dust buster.

Advantages:
1) This vacuum is truly not that loud. My dog was scared of my other vacuum and he is not scared of this one. I swear that my blender is louder than this vacuum.

2) The filter is completely protected from what the vacuum is picking up. My other vacuum did not have a protected filter and so all the hair and dust would get caught in the filter rendering it useless. This is a well-designed vacuum.

3) The dust canister is incredibly easy to remove and empty. Does not send dust flying back into the air either!

4) Everything else. It swivels around corners, is self-propelled, drops flat to go under my dining room table, has a powerful suction, and still easily fits into my coat closet for storage.

5) How can you argue with a vacuum that makes you love cleaning?

I looked at all the available model Shark vacs and this one stood out due its light weight and not as bulky and disproportionate looking as the others. I love the ease of activating the brush roller brush with a simple push of a button. I also really like the tools it comes with, esp the wand that reaches under my sofa. The led lights are a big plus as well. The swivel turn action is great... Similar to the Dyson. I could go on and on raving about this powerful machine. It has to be the best bang for your buck out there. I just vacuumed with my old Eureka and this vac picked up so much more dirt, I was amazed. Bought at BB&B and used a 20% off coupon. There is not 1 negative thing I can't say about this vacuum.

I have been cleaning houses professionally for about ten years, and have used a lot of different vacuums, both in my clients' homes and in my own. For the money, this vacuum is great! It's convenient for hard floors and carpets alike: just one button to turn the brushes on and off. The pet hair tool (on board) is fantastic for upholstery and areas that aren't wide enough to accommodate the vacuum.

Pros:
-cord is long enough to get most rooms without having to unplug.
-there is a light on the vacuum, helpful for dark corners.
-various tools on board and easily accessed for tight spaces.
-light enough to carry up and down stairs.
-canister detaches easily from the head to allow you to take the hose into corners and under things.
-does a very good job picking up things: it will collect a surprising amount of dirt even from rooms you think are clean!
-easy to take apart and clean (filters need to be washed and dried regularly).
-easily fits into the trunk of my Miata, but I have to detach the top handle. Easy.
-emptying the canister is very easy: it empties on the bottom, which is great for keeping the dirt *in* the trash bag and out of the air.
-when you have the brush roll on and need to pause for any reason, it shuts off when returned to the upright position, then starts back up when you're ready, without having to push the button again.

Cons:
-A little louder than some other vacuums I've used. Not unbearably so, but I always warn my clients before using it if they're on the phone.
-the air vent is on the front, so if you don't pay attention to that and angle the vacuum up a little as you're working, it will blow debris out from in front of you before you can get to it.
-almost too much suction sometimes, especially on rugs that aren't firmly anchored or are even a little long. This isn't really a con, but it's good to know.

Overall, I like this vacuum a lot! It does exactly what a vacuum should do and is put together thoughtfully. For the money, it's fantastic. I've recommended it to my clients... It gets the job done well.

The amount of dust/hair/stuff this vacuum picks up is amazing. I've only tried it on thick carpet so far, but it cleans deep and makes carpet feel like new. I've actually found it to be a bit quieter than most upright vacuums, and there isn't much of a difference in quality between this model and the $250 one. The only drawback is the canister size, but if you clean regularly then you won't have much of a problem. I would definitely recommend this model.

I was saving up for a Dyson when my vacuum broke on me. Having pets and long hair I knew I wasn't going to make it until I saved enough. I bought this vacuum based on good reviews and the fact that it was in my price range. I have had this vacuum for about two months now and so far so good! I could immediately tell it had stronger suction than my Hoover because the vacuum lines in the carpet were much deeper. It also kind of pulls itself because the suction is strong (similar to how it feels to use a Dyson) I also was really happy with the length of the cord. My Hoover couldn't vacuum a room without me having to switch outlets. The whole vacuum comes apart for easy cleaning accept where the brush is... I would have rated it a 5 star if it had better access but I ended up having to lay the vacuum on its side and work around the fixture parts. I have to cut hair out of the brush every once and a while because of its length and this isn't the fault of the vacuum. Most vacuum require a little maintenance. Other than that you could easily take the whole thing apart for cleaning and snap it right back together. Everything is clearly labeled so you know what each "button" will release.

I read reviews comparing this vacuum to Dyson and I have to say I'm happy I didn't spend the extra money. This Shark comes with a 5 year warranty which includes loss of suction! I have yet to experience any loss of suction even when the canister is packed full (which it tends to be when I'm using it). I like how there are "headlights" on the front and the swivel of the head makes it very easy to maneuver. Cleaning the canister is very easy and not one but messy. It is also very slim and light which makes vacuuming even easier and storage simple.

One other complaint would be the length of the extension wand. Because the vacuum is so light it tips over with a pull of the hose. However, once you figure this out you can accommodate easily. But for the price, I can deal with the length of the hose. The attachments are great with an extra long "corner" attachment. You can vacuum carpet and hardwood. Yes, this vacuum is loud.. No doubt. But they aren't claiming to be quite and it doesn't bother me because I know it's doing a good job! It's only loud when you activate the spin brush for carpeting.

I would highly recommend this vacuum if you are tired of replacing what you buy every year!

I guess I'm going to be a lone voice of dissension here, but I really didn't like this vacuum. We have a Dyson Ball, and I'm not a huge fan of that vacuum either (bulky, scratched our hardwood floors, etc.), so when it broke recently and I saw all the glowing reviews for the Shark Rocket, I thought we'd give it a go. And with a 20% off coupon, the price was a steal. However, as soon as we opened it my hopes wavered. It felt extremely cheap - but it's supposed to be a lightweight model and it was significantly less expensive than other models, so that was forgiven a bit. Right away, I hated that 3 of the attachments couldn't fit on the unit. Again, it's supposed to be lightweight so I understood the reasoning behind this design decision, but I'm also the type of person to put the fancy attachments in a closet or attic and forget they exist. I started on the thick, dense, wool rug in our living room and instantly regretted the decision. I understand this is supposed to give you a "deep clean" but the brush roll was so stiff that it chewed up the rug (and let me tell you, if the house was burning down, I'd run in to save this rug, that's how much I love it). Morever, the brush roll collected so much lint and fibers from chewing up the rug it was leaving a lint trail behind on the dark parts of the rug. When I turned the brush roll off, it spewed fur bunnies the size of my fist all over the rug I had just cleaned. I sighed, and vac'ed them up. Then I went to use the attachments. Reading the reviews, I knew that the unit could possibly tip if you weren't careful, and so I held on tight and started cleaning under the furniture. It turned out that it wasn't tight enough because the vac reclined by itself and the brush roll shot out more supersized fur bunnies (at least this time it was on the hardwood floors). In the span of only a few minutes, I also had to empty out the tiny dustbin 3 times. I know people rave that it means you're getting a really deep clean - but in my case, I could actually see that it had shaved off the top layer of my rug. I ended up returning this, which is disappointing because we do need a new vacuum and for the price, I really wanted this to work out.

I have had my Rocket for a little over 2 months now and I love it. I chose it because it's lightweight and so easy to clean. I have a 1300 sq ft home with all but the kitchen carpeted. I did a lot of research before choosing this model and am so pleased with it. It's easy to maneuver, You can take the whole dirt container and wash it right in the sink, filters and all. It cleaned so muchl dirt out of our carpeting that I was amazed. It was a little fast-moving for me to get used to at first but didn't take me long to adjust. I can't vacuum all rooms at one time because of age and health issues so I divide the carpeted areas into 3 and take breaks in between. Works well for me. The cord is so long compared to my old vacuums. I only use two outlets and get through the whole house. My grown son tried it while visiting and was also impressed. It was so easy to assemble because everything is labeled clearly. If there were more than 5 stars, I would rate it higher. I'm taking a break right now and am ready to go back for my second round of the day. The longer I have this Rocket, the more I like it. If you have any questions, check out the videos on the Shark website. They are so helpful and do not exagerate. Get a Rocket!

I bought this 2 weeks ago after seeing the commercial for the Rocket stick vac compared to the Dyson. I saw the stick vac in the store but it looked too skimpy so I opted for the Rocket Pro. I have another shark that was purchased a few years ago but it keeps loosing suction even after I check the hoses, brush, and filters.. I got mad and decided it was time to upgrade. I have a dog and I'm amazed at how much embedded dog hair this vacuum has pulled from my carpet. I used it twice on the first day and both times the canister was full! I'm surprised that my dog even has hair on his body after seeing what was pulled from the carpet. Even after 5 vacs so far, I'm still bug eyed at the amount it still pulls out. It makes me want to vacuum everyday until nothing is left to pull out. It's quiet enough and easy to maneuver. I like the swivel motion. There are video instructions on Shark's website for those who don't like reading instructions. The price was great for me too since I had a 20% off coupon which brought the price down to $159.99. I love it so far. Can't wait to try the accessories.
