5.0 out of 5 stars Shark Vac’s Rock!
I have bought Shark Vac’s before, have two of these and all I can say is that they Rock! I don’t understand why others have complaints unless they are trying to do the whole floor with it, the only complaint I would have is cleaning it out after of cleaning up a mess from the kids. This has plenty of power and you can even rinse the filter with water, but the...

I've had this vacuum for maybe two months, and have not compared it to similar products (besides an awful B&D Auto Vac which I got as a freebie 10 years ago). So far, it's been very good for my needs. The suction is impressive, but I do have a few concerns which might be a bigger problem for other users:

(1) Unlike the Shark "Deluxe" (which is not a wet/dry vac), the charging base does not provide storage for most of the attachments.

(2) The dust cup fills up very quickly (especially around here -- dog hair) and must be emptied as often as several times in a cleaning session to maintain suction power. As of this writing, I have been unable to find replacement filter cups either on Amazon.com, Target.com, in-store at Target, or on Euro-Pro's own site.

(3) The battery loses its charge very quickly when not kept in the charger, and will be almost completely dead after a few days out of the charger. Aside from the inconvenience this poses if you want to take it on a road trip, for instance, it gives me more serious concerns about the long-term durability of the battery. This worry is what knocked my review from four stars to three.

Having said all of that, thus far I have been pleased with its performance: it delivers adequate power (it'll get short dog hairs out of upholstery -- yuk!) for enough time (it'll go just long enough for me to vacuum my hatchback's interior) to be a worthwhile purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shark Vac’s Rock!, July 5, 2004

I have bought Shark Vac’s before, have two of these and all I can say is that they Rock! I don’t understand why others have complaints unless they are trying to do the whole floor with it, the only complaint I would have is cleaning it out after of cleaning up a mess from the kids. This has plenty of power and you can even rinse the filter with water, but the best part is the wet vacuum, with children they are always making messes and next would have to be that it is cordless. It is also great for using in the car and van because the kids make plenty of messes in there also, plus with a scrub brush and a spray bottle of shout it works great on cleaning the upholstery and spots in the carpet. Before this I was using a Shark vacuum with a cord and it was not a wet and dry one, so this is so much better because before I would have to drag out my big Wet & Dry shop vacuum to do even little jobs. I would recommend this to everyone but first you might what to try the other vac’s so that you will know how much better this one is!

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad product - worse customer service, January 17, 2005

This vacuum is quite loud, did not have a whole lot of suction, and seemed to run down the battery within minutes of use. Trying to replace a part was a nightmare. Though their customer service person was polite enough, and tried to be helpful, it was clear that she knew very little about the product. And, it took months... to get the wrong part. We gave up.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, September 13, 2004

Seemed like a good idea at the time, but I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed in a product. Right out of the box it worked okay, but within a week it was useless. Just no suction whatsoever. Forget using the extension hose; you can put your hand right against the opening and barely feel it. Wish I'd never wasted the money on this-- it's going right out to the trash and I've only used it about 3 times.

1.0 out of 5 stars Euro-Pro means " imported lemon" in English/French, February 22, 2004

Euro-Pro has achieved a design first - they have developed a suctionless vacuum cleaner that becomes a room heater!

I had the misfortune of purchasing one of these cleaning(?)implements in spite of reading the tepid to abominable Amazon reviews. In fairness I made this traumatic purchase from a tv buying network after being swayed by the product demonstration (which I discovered later bares no resemblance to the the actual in use performance of the machine)....

This is the WORST vacuum cleaner I have ever used and that includes AC vacs where there was no electricity in the house. This unit actually throws debris back on the carpet that you have collected in an earlier task even when the micro vacuum collection chamber is one third full.

I must admit that I also purchased the AC version of this turkey at an earlier time so should have been forewarned. Its motor burned out after two attempts at cleaning up a small area. I have spent more money in return shipping costs for these two "implements of cleaning frustration" than I have for the cost of the two vacuums put together.

As they say "fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me". I will never purchase a Euro-Pro product of any kind again and that is a promise.

The fault in this case is the internal vacuum design - a small perforated collection cup located in front of the motor/suction section. As the tiny holes in this collection cup plug up the suction rapidly decreases. If you continue to vacuum the unit heats up and eventually the motor burns out.

Enough said.....

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY IT!, October 3, 2005

I received the 14.4 volt vacuum for Christmas 2004. After a full charge, it lasts less than a minute. It would be great if the battery lasted, but it doesn't. Go with another product and save your money on this piece of junk.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Product!, February 13, 2007

This review is from: Shark SV745 14-2/5-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry Handheld Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
I bought this vacuum because of the overall value I thought it would provide, based on price, power, features and size of suction hole. Unfortunately, after just a few uses, the battery no longer held a charge. It would turn on for about 10 seconds and then run out of power. When I called the Euro-Pro technical help line to see if they'd stand behind their product, the person on the other end of the line agreed that the battery was no good -- however, the only solution he provided to the problem was for me to buy a new battery for almost what I paid for the vacuum. When I asked him if he thought the new battery would fail like the first battery, he tried to sell me another accessory and never answered my question. I will not buy another Euro-Pro product. I recommend that you avoid this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looked Good Until I brought It Home, August 11, 2003
By
This review is from: Shark SV745 14-2/5-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry Handheld Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
At first this seems to be a good product. However, after bringing it home and trying it, i find this unit has a few problems. 1. Replacement parts such as batteries and filters don't exist. 2. The battery does not hold a charge, so it must stay plugged in when not in use. 3. Works fair but I have had better units for less money. 4. Went to Sharkvac's web site and this model does not exist, they have no telephone numbers to call them, they aren't listed in any yellow pages. Makes me wonder about keeping this unit and i would not recommend it to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars count this as a disposable vacuum, December 14, 2006
This review is from: Shark SV745 14-2/5-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry Handheld Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
this vacuum worked fine until its battery began to lose power, after less than a year and under very light use. It is impossible to find a replacement battery and it was too expensive to be a throwaway. Get a cheap Dustbuster instead...and face the same problem when you need a new battery but you won't have as much invested.
