5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly good and clever show - anyone suprised it was cancelled?, October 30, 2009
This review is from: Shark: Season 2 (DVD)
One of the top 3 best shows I have ever seen - smart, intelligent, sharp, killer one-liners, very good plot-writing...Should one be surprised it was cancelled?!

Some shows and movies always remind me about that old (good) one with Arnie - The Last Action Hero. It was a huge flop in US as the general public simply did not understand all the hilarious cultural hints and innuendoes that the movie is stuffed with. O'K how many average folks out there know where that Death came from? Or who Bergman was? Or who was Salieri ? Or - gasp - even Mozart?

I am afraid Shark's worst enemy was the show itself - way too clever, way too sharp and non-sentimental for your average public. NO blood (or at least not too much), no nudity to talk about, no cheap bows to the crowd's taste (which has not changed since Rome) - plots way too clever, thinking intricate and - sacrilege!- even really good acting!

The vector of the development is such that in another 5-10 years any show that is called "intelligent, witty and sharp" anywhere in the press or reviews, will be immediately removed just based on those several compromising words....

5.0 out of 5 stars For "Shark" fans throughout, November 23, 2008

I don't own the DVD since it's not available yet, but I watched the whole season on TV, and it is even better than season 1, which is saying a lot. Nothing James Woods has ever done even gets close to his job on "Shark": it's funny, tragic, uplifting, action-packed, suspenseful--everything you could want in a show! If you don't buy Season 2 when it comes out, you're an idiot, and if you don't own season 1 already, go and get it or you're still an idiot!!

I agree with the first reviewer. You will not be disappointed in this tv show. I had never heard of Shark but was looking for movies and/or tv shows with Sarah Carter in them. I rented the first disc and after I watched the first episode, I was already buying it here on amazon.

I'm not a James Woods fan either. I saw him in a movie called "Pretty Persuasion" and hated his character. So that's all I had seen him in. But with this show, I don't even realize it's the same character from that movie. He plays such a good role. The best thing I like about this show is that most of the time, you aren't just watching it...it feels like you're participating in finding out who's guilty or really aiming for the team of lawyers Shark leads to win.

With all the bad new shows that have been introduced, I don't understand why they couldn't have kept Shark around for a little while longer. It's impossible to even become bored because you really have to listen to hear all the facts plus listen for the wisecrack jokes. Anyone who likes any lawyer shows shouldn't be disappointed. And for those who don't really care either way, like me, you'll still get sucked in.
