I read her first book- "If you don't have big breasts..." and it was good. I bought this new book thinking she wrote another book but was a little upset to see it was the same book I already read a few years back- only with a new title. Amazon should clarify this a bit better for their customers...

fast read, couldn't put it down,
This review is from: Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion Dollar Business (Paperback)
This isn't the usual phony baloney high fa-looting business type book that I've learned to hate. Instead it's an honest conversation about what it really takes to succeed and each lesson is easily understood because of Barbara's great gift of story telling. I planned to read it over Easter vacation but found once I started it I couldn't put it down. Great stories, great lessons. My husband and I love watching Barbara on Shark Tank and we loved reading her book. Now our excuses for not starting that pie business are out the window and we're on our way. P.S. Even our teenage son is reading the book and he never reads.

Entrepreneurial Pearls of Wisdom,
This review is from: Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion Dollar Business (Paperback)
The subtitle caught my attention - How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion Dollar Business. I was ready to learn the ins and outs of being a moneymaking entrepreneur.
If you are looking for a good believable success story filled with business-building tips, then you'll want to make time to read Shark Tales. I thoroughly enjoyed every page! Barbara's book is a story of growing up in a big family and how she learned to stand out from the crowd - lessons that she readily applied to the business world. Shark Tales is not only about Barbara Corcoran but also about her wise and resourceful mother, Florence Corcoran. Her mother taught her life lessons with wisdom and humor. Barbara took those lessons and applied them to her own life and business. Barbara credits her mother with showing her about thinking creatively and not giving up when the going gets tough. This book is written with a casual, fun and easy-to-read style. I highly recommend you have pen, paper and may be even a highlighter handy to capture the powerful business "aha's." I'm not exaggerating when I say that Shark Tales is filled with entrepreneurial pearls of wisdom. Here are some of my business-building "aha's" - ·If you can't reinvent yourself, repackage yourself. ·People always want what they can't have or believe they've miss out on. ·Don't allow yourself to be bullied by the big guys. ·Be organized and have a system. ·Everyone loves a deal. ·Don't give up before you've exhausted every opportunity. ·Stand out as an expert in your field. ·And there are so many, many more! You're not reading a business textbook but you are getting a "real-world" degree in how a woman in business doesn't have to compromise her principles to become a multimillionaire, no matter how competitive the field. Honestly, I can't find anything I didn't like. I recommend Shark Tales by Barbara Corcoran to everyone who wants a good read about succeeding in business.

I first saw Barbara Corcoran on "Shark Tank" and quickly saw how many businesses she skyrocketed to that next level of success. Time after time, she proves to be the "Golden Key to Success" for many entrepreneurs who stand in front of the Sharks. I had to pick up her book and learn her story. Who is Barbara Corcoran, and how does she dominate the BEST business decisions made on this popular show? I was completely taken back when I learned her story. I bought her book on Kindle, and listened to it while I worked. I felt admiration for her will to succeed, empathy for some of the choices she made in life, and valued her business and sales lessons that are engrained throughout the book. The most important fact of Barbara's success story, is that she was raised by a Mother who never told her she "couldn't do something, only that she could!" If only we can raise OUR children with these principles, imagine what the world would be like. READ THIS BOOK TODAY, and you will learn the basics of sales, business and success. I have been a fan of Shark Tank since it first aired. I love it because it's not only entertaining, but also a good lesson in business.
This book goes deeper into the lessons given every week and Shark Talk and gives great insight into the woman behind the celebrity we see on television. She is a very, very smart lady with a lot of drive. She has made me realize that it is possible for me to make big things happen as well. In addition, I love it that she has been successful in a male-dominated world. Where I am, there are not a lot of women business people and it's easy to think that I'm the only one. Barbara is a good reminder that big success as a woman is possible. For that alone, this book is worth it!! Barbara is great. She brings personality to business and is an example to all of us that we can have fun while doing this! I can't wait to read her other books. On a related note, if you are a mother, like Barbara is, and looking for a book which talks extensively about balancing family and work life, you might benefit from reading Mogul Mom - How to Quit Your Job, Start Your Own Business, and Join the Work-at-Home Mom Revolution, which is designed for upcoming female business owners.

Shark Tales was a wonderful book, and the business lessons learned were amazing. This book also spoke to how every day life examples (in this case, her mother) are meaningful and influencing.....if we just pay attention and "listen". I loved it, and have recommended it to several people!

It was a very well written book. I enjoyed reading about the author's childhood experiences and how she applied the lessons learned when she became an adult.Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion Dollar Business

Let's start with the title "How I turned $1000 into a billion dollars." Her rich boyfriend gives her a $1000 and they both start a business together. Not exactly starting with a $1000. There weren't any details other than this. After the business takes off, the rich boyfriend finds another girl and they split the business almost in half where she starts on her own. It's around $14,000, in todays dollars it's a lot more, more like $70,000. So starting with inflation adjusted $70,000 she grows her business by wisdom she supposedly learned from her childhood. It goes back and forth, business stories, childhood stories. The flow for me was stop and go which made me very bored with the book. While the childhood story helps fill up the pages I found it wasn't necessary for a business book. I'm still reading it so I don't have a full conclusion but I find the book interesting and just bored from the back and forth story telling. I felt like a 4th grader learning about business. Don't let that discourage you from buying the book, you may learn something.

Barbara, hands down, this was an amazing read! I truly enjoyed every page of the book. It was funny and filled with great information. Recently a friend wanted to borrow the book from me and because I could not part with my copy I went out and purchased a copy for her.
