5.0 out of 5 stars I love these things!
These are perfect for anyone who maintains an active lifestyle. They have a near ideal blend of simple and complex carbohydrates, they don't have a foul aftertaste, they don't sit in your stomach, and they don't contain anything artificial. The fact they are organic is a nice bonus. Finally, they are priced right here @ Amazon. To be honest, I wouldn't pay more than...

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay for athletes. Great for snacking: Healthier than Gummy Bears.
Sharkies taste good, have a nice texture to them, and do provide energy. However, I have tried them on longer runs, and they don't make the cut. They only provide energy for a few minutes. Also, they tend to get stuck in my teeth which I can't have when I'm already having a hard time sucking in air during my runs.

I would gladly eat these over gummy bears since...

Having said that, if you have a sweet tooth, they probably aren't for you. They aren't sweet per se. I think their consistency is similar, but not identical to, gummy bears (Sharkies are less chewy), but I've had quite a few friends disagree.

5.0 out of 5 stars Healty and tasty..., June 24, 2005

This review is from: Sharkies Organic Energy Sports Chews, Berry Blast, Cherry, Blackberry, 1.58-Ounce Bags (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
Unlike most sport bars it does not taste like sawdust.

It tastes a lot like gummy bears and the difference is mostly a "natural" vs. "processed" flavor.

They are less sticky/messy than gels and are bite-sized unlike bars.

I am a long-distance runner and use these as an energy source---they are easier on the stomach than the sports gels and taste great!

These organic energy little gummy sharks are amazing. Also hard to find commercially. Sometimes I can find them at Whole Foods, but it is easier to buy them in bulk as you can't count on them being in stock. Great for runners or any sports minded people, on hikes, walks, etc... it's chewy electrolytes in the form of a gummy shark!

Sharkies are a quick snack before exercise that are portable and tasty. They do the trick!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best and healthier than honey stingers!, October 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Sharkies energy sports chews are not quite so sweet as the kids version BUT are Healthier becasue the main ingredient is brown rice syrup which is a complex carbohydrate with low glycemic index. Being very hypogylcemic brown rice syrup and agave nectar are the only two natural sweetners that don't cause a "sugar crash". Oh, the brown rice version fill me up faster because they are a complex carbohydrate and don't cause blood sugar fluctuations, but aren't as sweet as the kids version(which are like honey stingers) But if you want an energy chew the sharkies are the way to go. If yo want a sweet candy substitute get the kids version. Great flavors either way! Give a little pick me up when energy dips in the afternoon or after a long hike.

I liked these so much that I bought a second batch a couple weeks after the first one. They're basically a "healthy" gummy bear kind of food. I'm sure they're not the healthiest thing you can eat, but they're healthier than most quick breakfast foods, and they taste good, but they're really not that sweet.

I usually eat them for breakfast on the way to work. I usually eat bars like Cliff Bars for breakfast, but this is something different to shake things up. I'll be buying them again, too.

These little guys are great. They are one of the best tasting sports energy sources out there. The multiflavor pack adds some variety. its not the same old same old. They are easier to eat on the fly than a bar or gel. You won't find yourself needing to grab a water to get them down. They are like Swedish Fish, versus gummy items (firmer, less sticky) and taste better in so far as more flavor and less "sweet". I have replaced the use of energy gels and bars with these. They are actually so enjoyable flavor-wise I eat them when I just need something small to tie me over until I can eat a meal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious Healthy Chews, January 9, 2007
Sharkies are great, (like fish chews but better for you) there are several flavors of sharky fruit. What I like best, is they taste great and are gluten and wheat free. It is also all vegetarian.
