Book Description

January 1, 1993
From the author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Swim with the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive and Beware the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt comes an essential job-hunting book. Harvey Mackay shows listeners how to get hired with techniques that can be applied to everyone's job search, regardless of their expectations or previous experiences.

Mackay gives practical advice and explicit instructions on the best ways to find and approach a potential employer. By drawing on decades of experience running his own business and by showing the perspective of the employer, Mackay is able to give listeners the skills needed to assess what the company is looking for in a prospective employee and how to match those expectations.

Mackay combines specific advice with just the right touch of humor and inspiration to motivate people and show them how to really make things happen.

From AudioFile

Demand for this title will be heavy as MacKay's two previous books were best-sellers. Here he addresses the countless anxious workers made jobless or insecure in the current uncertain economy. While MacKay's a little stiff at reading his own words, his voice conveys the warmth and support of his practical advice for finding and keeping a job. This and the conversational tone of his illustrative anecdotes make an audio version of Sharkproof appropriate. MacKay's practice of listing strategies and other important points works less well on audio; however, the program succeeds overall. S.K. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine

This review is from: Sharkproof (Audio Cassette)
This book is easily one of the most amazing books I have read. It is my business to read books on careers and this is in the top five books without a doubt. Not only is it motivational and informative, but it will help you learn what holds you back from taking the risks you need to take -- not just to succeed -- but to excel.
