Gr 3-5--In an effort to demystify the terrifying image of the shark, Berman introduces its physiological workings through brief but detailed descriptions. Full-color photographs show the variety of sharks, and colorful diagrams amplify the easy-to-understand explanations of their behavior and anatomy. Unfamiliar terms are highlighted in bold print and defined in context; a photograph and caption further explicate them. There is some unscientific writing here, however. Food that the shark may consume is often referred to as ``dinner,'' as in ``dinner is served.'' Nevertheless, this introduction adds new information about sharks' skin and teeth, and includes a sobering look at the environmental dangers threatening these creatures.

Ruth Berman's Perfect Book about the Truth about Sharks!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sharks (Nature Watch (Carolrhoda Paperback)) (Paperback)
Ruth Berman has written a fantastic book about the Truth about Sharks! With wonderful photographs and an enormous amount of infromation for a book from that year, "SHARKS" tells children, like me, a 5th grader, about how sharks rarely even attack people and they always have a reason! In fact, sharks are endangered because of humans!! Ruth Berman covers it all! It is my favorite nonfictin book about sharks. I enjoyed every minute, every second, of reading "SHARKS"!! You MUST read "SHARKS"!!!
