5.0 out of 5 stars Great Micro
We bought this when we did a kitchen remodel 3+ years ago, and it's still nuking along just fine. It looks great, heats-up perfectly, and has every feature my wife and I need. Highly recommended!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not sure yet, but there are issues
Bought this at BJ's in NJ in Oct 2009. Seemed like a decent product for $99. I usually keep the box until I know it works, but the old one was completely dead so I chucked it. I kninda regret that. Now, after a month of use, we have had the 15 amp breaker blow like 4 times. The first time, we had heated up several dishes of food with no cover over them. The last...

I purchased this as a replacement to a 10 year old nuker that blew up.
I am very happy with everything about this product, easy to use, clear instructions for special items.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big learning curve for me and defrost is a pain, November 25, 2009

I replace my 2nd crappy Kenmore microwave in 5 years with this Sharp R-408LS. I like it but it is a lot harder at first to learn and understand. The defrost cycle is a pain cause every 30secs it wants me to open the door and pull apart whatever I am defrosting this is called staging which is like 3 times for 1lb of ground beef (I call it retarded). I just open and shut the door and hit start to continue still a pain in the butt.

Kenmore you hit defrost pick whatever then the weight and forget about. If there a way to defrost and skip staging please tell.

Popcorn has 3 setting so read the back of the bag before popping to pick right size or stand and listen to it. Over all it is a great microwave beside defrost this baby is big at 1.4 cubic feet and 1100 watts it heats and pops popcorn fast.

If it last more the 2 years it will have out lived my last Kenmore if it last more then 5 years it will be better then Kenmore.

I would recommend you shop around I got this for $99 at my local Costco with tax came to $106.99. I would have hated to have paid $175. For $107 I can live with the learning curve and it worth it. I don't think it worth $175.

The only stainless steel is the door and I scratch the middle of the door cause Sharp put a sticker with glue that wouldn't come off but, that's ok. I am happy.

This review is from: Sharp R-405KS 1.4-Cubic Feet 1100-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
This microwave replaced an older Sharp Carousel, and we are very pleased with its performance and features, right out of the box. The stainless is a nice look.

4.0 out of 5 stars cooks fast, but high energy draw, December 4, 2010

Picked this microwave up a a local warehouse store. This seemed like the perfect mix of size features and power, and I've had good luck with Sharp microwaves in the past. The buttons were easy to press, and food cooks FAST. I actually had to adjust down some of my favorites. garden burgers that were done in 1:40 in my old microwave are done in about 1:15 here.

I plugged my KillAWatt reader and discovered that it was pulling almost 1700 watts. I happen to have a circuit dedicated entirely to the microwave, but if you have a single 15 amp breaker with anything else to plugged, this could blow breakers if you are expected only 1100 watts.

hopefully this extra draw isn't a defect that will effect the longevity of the microwave, but its been perfect for the last three months

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp makes the best microwaves, February 15, 2009
This review is from: Sharp R-405KS 1.4-Cubic Feet 1100-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
This microwave replaces my 14 year old Sharp microwave that still works perfectly but I wanted an updated stainless steel style. I've only had the microwave for a month but it is a quality product. As another reviewer mentioned there is a sticker on the front window but it come off very easily with a little bit of soap and water.

My parents still have their Sharp Carousel microwave that they bought in 1979 and it works great. Sharp makes a quality product.

The last thing was a small pitcher of water. unlike another reviewer on here who said that heating water produced no vapor build up, the heated, uncovered water released SOOOOO much vapor that the time display on the keypad fogged over and the breaker blew. We have since been covering the food with a microwave proof cover and the water with wax paper as suggested with somewhat beter results. The breaker still blew, but not nearly as much fogging of the display. This unit does draw a lot of power. The only other thing plugged into its outlet is a small sony boombox type radio. If it is on when the microwave is on for more than 5 minutes, the break blows. Going to try a 20 amp breaker to see if the problem goes away. I have to say, this is the first microwave I have had that seems to have poor ventilation. Most blow hot air out the top or back with some force, but not this one. Seems odd. My final veridict is still out on this unit until I see if the higher breaker works. I still think that the poor ventilation is a problem that would make me not recommend this product, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars i love this microwave, March 30, 2011

This is my second SHARP microwave. :D I purchased the same model Sharp microwave in black 6 plus years ago at Walmart. I can't remember what I paid for it but it was not much. Loved it so much that I did not replace it to match my all new stainless appliances when I did a kitchen remodel 3 years ago...figured it would quit soon and the black did look okay with the new stainless stuff. My daughter broke the turn table plate...the only reason I replaced it. Buying a new plate and donating the old one to our church fellowship hall. The stainless looks great and I am very pleased with this purchase. I searched everywhere and never found a microwave that I liked better. So thankful I stopped going from store to store and remembered to surf the web!

What annoyed me about microwaves I owned previously was the steam that built up when I heated liquids. There's next to no steam left after heating high liquid content foods in this microwave. Amazes me. I'm thrilled about not having to sop up mist and droplets.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Stainless steel?", December 25, 2008

This unit works fine but labeling it "stainless steel" is a bit of a joke. Yes, there are a few square inches of thin stainless around the edge of the door but the interior is white painted metal and the exterior is grey painted metal. If you want stainless steel inside and out, you'll have to pay quite a lot more. Deceptive advertising.
