Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Looking for a big screen with theater-like image dynamics in a budget set? Sharp's 36-inch 36C230 television is designed for optimal quality at an affordable price. Its high-focus, high-contrast, dark-tint picture tube, color-temperature control, and black-level expansion dramatically heighten viewing quality in a darkened room.

The 36C230's two-line comb filter enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl--tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt.

The set's front and rear audio/video inputs (composite-video x 2, with S-video and high-resolution component-video on the rear-panel) foster easy connection with other AV equipment, such as VCRs, camcorders, and gaming consoles, as well as digital still cameras. On its own, the set's stereo speakers are powered by 3 watts each for clear, stable sound at reasonable listening levels.

With the touch of a button you can select English, Spanish, or French to guide you through remote functions. EZ Setup automatically sets TV channels to receive standard cable broadcasts, while an MTS stereo decoder receives and decodes stereo and SAP (second audio program) signals.

Other features include V-Chip parental controls (TV-rating blocking technology that helps you keep young eyes off mature content), a ViewTimer (to limit your child's time in front of the set to 30 minutes), and a sleep timer (which saves energy by turning the set off after you've likely fallen asleep in front of it).

4.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent TV, January 2, 2004
By
This review is from: Sharp 36C230 36" TV (Electronics)
When I began my search for a 36 inch TV, I was amazed to see the abundance of new hi tech models, at very high prices. I wanted to pay less than $1000, including a TV stand, which left me with only a few alternatives. Eventually, I narrowed down my choices to the Panasonic CT36E13, the RCA F36650, the Toshiba 36A43 and the Sharp 36C231 (the same model as the 36C230, but in black and grey). The Panasonic was about $100 more expensive than the other three, so I decided to focus on the others. In comparing the pictures of the three remaining candidates, the RCA and the Sharp looked brighter than the Toshiba. The Sharp was a more attractive looking TV and was a little less expensive than the RCA so I went with the Sharp. It was an excellent decision. The picture on the Sharp is good on TV broadcasts, but it really shines on DVD's when you use its component video inputs. It has a 16:9 setting for playing widescreen dvd's, which few TV's in its price range have. Another positive feature of this TV is that the screen is almost flat. From a regular viewing distance, you don't notice any curvature of the screen. I had heard that sound quality on Sharp TV's is poor, but that is not the case with this model, as the sound quality is all right.

All in all, I am pleased with my purchase and recommend this TV.
