Does what it says,

Very easy to setup this copier, software installed exactly as expected. Software includes product manager software that was very clear when I had an early error during the setup. The software gave me the instructions to fix the error and it worked! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the lack of faxing, but the printing and copying is very good and exceptionally fast. I have tried similar products by HP and the Shartp was much faster and easier to install.

So far, I have every reasons to love this printer. Copier, printer and scanner. This unit is great except for the fact that it is missing fax functionality. I bought it on sale @ office depot and so far it has been performing up to expectation. It is great for all it has to offer. Love it!

I bought this machine for its compact design and ability to do duplex printing. I have been very pleased with my purchase of the machine as well as the costs for maintenance materials and toner, very reasonable compared to other machines.
The copy quaity is very good, it works great with the standard 20lb paper but work even better with 24lb paper. It's quick and quiet. I have only used the copier featuer of this machine since that is all I needed it for, so I cannot comment on it's other features. But if your looking for a good qualiy copier for a reasonable price this machine is for you.

The laser quality double sided printing, and laser quality copying are as good as expected. You can set how long the machine sits idle before it goes into Energy Saver mode. With a touch of the [copy] button, it comes back to life. I had problems with the Sharp scanner software though. I could not use the .TIF formatted output as input to any of my other software products. I found that I already had a graphics program that would "Acquire" the scanned picture in .JPG format, and I was then able to accomplish everything I needed to do. This machine uses 1,000 watts of power when it operates. This may require you to use a heavier weight paper, and 24lb does not seem to curl as bad. I use this machine in addition to a color inkjet printer. I can select which printer to use depending on the needs of the project I am working on. This allows me to always have a backup printer available if the ink supply runs out of one or the other.

Impossible Installation!?!,
This review is from: Sharp AL-1641CS Digital Laser Copier, Printer, Scanner (Office Product)
I bought this for home use...loved the duplex/copier/scanner functions and my TI Microlaser (circa 1991 is just about dead)... brought it home to install. Finished the install procedures and doesn't do anything (other than make great copies). My jobs go to the print queue and then the printer s/w takes over and tells me that the item is "Scanning" even though there is no action from the unit...it will stay this way for hours.
I reinstall (per the instructions). I try a third time. I call Sharp's helpdesk. We delete my other drivers (for printers I still use), and reinstall the AL-1641CS. Tech tells me that since I have had a HP driver installed, it will likely never install correctly. I asked, "So, do I put it in the box and take it back to the store?" Tech replies, "Either that or reformat your computer." Hmmmm. I'll try another tech before I haul it back. |
