For a screen, the set uses Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View LCD panel. Its 4:3 aspect ratio is perfectly suited to most broadcast TV programs. This is an EDTV monitor, which means it's a step closer to high-definition or HDTV than standard TVs. When used with a progressive-scan DVD player (or 480p-output DTV set-top box) you'll get seamless, razor-sharp images from your favorite movies and concert videos. The set gives you a higher contrast ratio and wider viewing angles than conventional LCD screens--500:1 and a full 170 degrees viewing angle, vertical and horizontal--while its black TFT antiglare coating makes it bright enough to view its rich colors with ease, even in well-lit rooms.
LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (with no risk of image burn-in), space savings, light weight/easy positioning, and energy efficiency (most LCDs use substantially less power than their CRT equivalents). They also tend to be cheaper and, to some eyes, slightly more natural looking than their plasma flat-panel counterparts, which usually "spec" higher (higher brightness, higher contrast ratio).
Weighing in at under 10 pounds, the LC-13B6U-S is easy to position and reposition. The unit sits comfortably on any flat surface with the included stand, which detaches for wall mounting (with any compatible mounting kit, none included).
Component- and composite-video inputs accommodate everything from DVD players to VCRs, camcorders, and gaming consoles, and the set's stereo speakers are powered by 2.1 watts per channel. With the LC-13B6U-S's NTSC, PAL, and SECAM compatibility, you can view video sources from the U.S., Western Europe, and Eastern Europe, and all will appear properly formatted, provided you have the proper region decoding for any DVD sources. The screen offers 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution.
Other features include auto clock, which automatically sets the TV's time clock for display on demand, a remote control, SAP (second audio program, for listening to alternate language tracks on select cable broadcasts), and V-Chip parental control (which lets you block TV content based on content ratings).
What's in the Box

As the proud owner of this LCD for over a year, i am as satisfied today as i was the very first day of turning this baby on. It was my first LCD monitor purchase which i got a great deal on their demo modal for $250 at the now defaunt GoodGuys store. It was a big improvement in resolution, clarity, sharpness and sound over my old curvy big screen Sony. Even though its only 13" in screen size, it sure don't seem like it. I have it right next to my 19" flat panel and this baby can hold its own and then some. The remote is one of the best i ever lay my hands on with intuitive placement for each button.
Oh i almost forgot to add that i have not had any burn marks on the screen unlike another LCD i purchase later on which leaves a few blotch mark on that screen that remains perminant which tick me off big time. I end up taking it back in disgust and vow NEVER AGAIN!!! SHARP AQUOS, why settle for anything less?
