5.0 out of 5 stars Black Canyon Rock Climbs, December 16, 2004
" A rope, a rack , and the shirt on your back " has long been the best way to climb in the Black. With the release of this landmark guide, the Black Canyon's many routes as well as its rich climbing history will be revealed to active climbers and armchair mountaineers alike. " Black Canyon " does more thatn descrive the area's many routes; it also brings alive the flavor, history, and character of this primordial canyon. Over 20 essays and numerous photos from pioneering climbers pepper the book with insights and passionate reflections.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good overview of an intimidating place, January 20, 2010
This guidebook was controversial when it first came out because it drew attention to a place coveted as mysterious, dangerous and reserved for experienced hardmen. Luckily the bare bones topos and descriptions of the lesser known climbs kept many routes mysterious. A good guidebook for the well traveled routes but not so much for the lesser known ones. With that said it does include some cool historical notes and profiles of well known Black Canyon climbers which makes for good toilet reading. A fine effort overall by the author.
