This book is based on a series of email correspondence the author had with a handful of submissive women who answered ads that he placed on various Internet bdsm personals sites. The correspondence takes on many forms of emotions including love, respect, anger, heartbreak, passion, eroticism, and shows the author to be a man who takes Dominance/submission (D/s) play very seriously.

There are a number of D/s stories in the book, written both by the author and the women he corresponds with, parts of which are highly erotic. As a male Dominant, I even picked up a few ideas in his and the women's stories that I might use in my SM play sometime. *s* The stories do get extreme at times, and while the "extreme" parts may not be things I would be specifically interested in, they are still interesting and fascinating.

An interesting look at D/s relationships, especially when done over a long period of time and distance using mostly email as the communication tool between the two relationship participants.

If you are looking for a collection of short stories on theerotic world of domination and submission, like me, you will begravely disappointed. This book, while having some redeemingqualities for those who like to read other people's mail, is sadlylacking in everything that defines a book - plot, characterdevelopment, descriptions, etc. What it is is a collection of lettersand e-mails between doms and subs. There are few descriptions ofactual S/M encounters. If there was a way to give a negative ratingthis book would rate one.

I found this book to be extremely educational. While reading the book (formatted in an 'exchange of e-mail' style) I learned more about what to do and more importantly what NOT to do when entering this fascinating and exciting world. The greatest thing about this book, however, is the clear message about not settling. The clear message that you are deserving and entitled to fulfill YOUR needs and that it's okay to wait for that special Master (or sub)!

I was given this book by a friend, and do I owe her now. I was riveted, the Author writes in such a way, you feel as if you are experencing it as well. It was wonderful to read something so real and more importantly, HONEST. The Sharp Edge of Love, is a powerful, intense read and I came away wanting more. I would recommend this book to anyone with a desire to expand their horizons, to know and understand and embrace their passions.Definately a MUST READ

I just finished reading Galen's book, "The Sharp Edge of Love". I read it in a day and a half, because I could NOT put it down. I am a 34 year-old, married submissive that began my own sexual and soul-searching journey via the internet one year ago.

The submissive women in this book felt like sisters to me. They were passionate, smart, sexy, open and had very naughty imaginations. It was refreshing to hear women's voices in that way. Too much of our sexuality is still hidden or repressed. Galen's thought provoking prose and wonderfully lurid fantasies capture the true nature of the Dom/sub dance. He shows how important it is to discover and reveal one's true nature, and he invites us to revel in our own delightfully decadent sexual personas.

Definitely recommended reading for anyone who has had a D/s relationship blossom over the internet. I saw myself in the book in many ways. Kudos to Galen who exposes himself so utterly. His nakedness and vulnerability in speaking about himself let us know that it's okay, and even celebrated, when we do the same ourselves. By reminding us that he isn't perfect, he makes it okay for the rest of us to reveal our flaws (and our secret selves) without worrying what other people might think of us.

I found this book to be just what I needed to realize that like me, many women have a very decadent sexuality. I have fantasized regularly since I was 12 or 13 years old about bondage and discipline in the sexual context. I found it very compelling (and encouraging) to read the intimate journeys of other women fervently exploring the dark side of their sexuality.

Each submissive in the book, has a captivating intelligence, a sharp wit, and a perverted, raw, nasty streak. Each is on a mission to nurture her most base, sexual impulses with a fitting partner who is up for the job. The result is a non-fiction compilation of the encounters between a dominant, sadistic, sharp, creative, sensitive, provocatively perverted, lustful man and four sex hungry, decadently slutty, submissive women seeking to find their ideal partner. The women are each hungry to unleash their on-the-edge sexuality on their Master, who will devour their sexual souls, and Galen is up for the job!

The women also share a common submissive craving to give up control to one who will absolutely take it, and eagerly. These women want their dominant lover to totally ravish them and use them like sex toys. All of these women exhibit a good degree of masochistic desire, and want Galen to take them to their limits, which lie somewhere in the overlap between pain and pleasure, between sexual humiliation and loving tenderness. These women share a common fantasy to be sexually violated like whores, to be physically restrained and rendered totally helpless (almost!) against a dominant, savage lover who fits right into the role and who will devour them.

The book also reveals the psychology behind the behaviors, rituals and role-playing dynamics, through a number of provocative short stories with BDSM themes. The stories are of high literary quality and are also a BDSM fantasisers wet dream!!! I found this book exhilarating and informative. I highly recommend it

This was my first exploration into the world of BDSM. I found the journey that Galen goes through at times challenging to become congruent with his own sexual identity...At times I felt that the email exchanges were a bore but when they got hot..it was good.

I began to feel comfortable with the idea of having a fetish and found also that one can find a level of healing with the process.

The book is very long..its back and forth email exchanges. I purchased the book more to understand and read an example of power dynamics in relationships...and you do go through the journey with Galen as he is becoming true to himself.

I first read this book about a year and a half ago. I remember feeling awe, apprehension, anticipation and most of all, VERY turned on! I burned through the pages like a thirsty horse after a long lonely ride through an empty desert.
Exhilarated and exhausted, I laid the book down.
Until about a week ago. I decided on hot summer afternoon that I could use a sexy story or two. To my amaze and amusement I became even more intoxicated by the voices of these submissive women and the man who held the "key" to their ready to dam burst
hearts and bodies. Their lustful perversions came from a place of sincerity, authenticity and the desperate hope to be freed from years of holding back.
The women range in styles, kinks and dreams but are united by a man who can see the inner slut in all of them.
Intertwined are these nasty, hot vinettes that turn up the real time heat by mixing in the fantasy realms of a delightfully talentd pervert!

This book was a great disappointment. Mainly, when you read this book, you're reading the e-mail of some guy who talks the talk and for we all we ever know, that may be all he does. Yeah, he includes a few good pieces of fiction, but that's not worth buying the whole book for. If you enjoy reading other people's boring mail, by all means this book is for YOU!

I have read The Sharp Edge Of Love. It was the most rivoting book i have ever read. It was thought provoking. As one who is in the lifestyle I can relate to the charcters as well as with Galen. As in the book I too have fallen victim to a fake person, I understand how Galen felt when he learned of the betrayal. I would recommend this book to all who are in the lifestyle or curious about it. I look forward to reading more books Galen chooses to write.
