This review is from: The sharp end (Paperback)
Several of Gabrielle Lord's books have been made into movies:"Fortress" and "Bones", and this one should join the others on the screen as it's an exciting actioner/murder thriller, set in New South Wales, Australia. Part aboriginal policeman and police dog handler, Harry Doyle, is a strange, mixed up man with a lot of issues in his past with which to contend. Episodes, such as his being one of the "stolen generation", and his time as a soldier in Vietnam, have caused him to shut down sections of his memory as being too painful to recall. Unfortunately, this does not help his bonding with his wife and children who feel shut out of his inner world, a fact which becomes only too clear when a series of acts of revenge by a former friend, threatens his life and those of his family. The plot revolves around several murders, kidnapping and other terrible acts of violence where Harry's police dogs prove to be invaluable. The suspense aroused by these plots would be non-stop on the screen, and would certainly create an incredibly exciting movie.
