The air purifier is recommended for rooms up to 129 square feet and has a CADR rating for dust 96, smoke 83, and pollen 94. When the air purifier detects odors and chemicals, it will automatically pick the fan speed that will help eliminate the odor. Manually, there are three fan speeds to chose from: silent, low, and high, as well as pollen mode. I bought this for my son's bedroom about 10 months ago to ease his allergies. He's been sleeping better ever since we turned the machine "ON". No more weezing and sneezing in the middle of the night. The air in his room is so fresh, it's like being in a museum! We hardly remember that the unit is turned on, except when it goes into "odor busting" mode when the fan runs at high speed. This doesn't happend too often, but it is noisy when it does happen. All in all, I'm very pleased. I only wish it came with the vacuumable pre-filter as the bigger models do.

With all air filters, depends on usage and dust in air. With Los Angeles being top dog for smog and such, a new filter each year in this works well.
Cleans small rooms of most moderate odors well in a few minutes. Can't really test antivirus statements of Plasmacluster, but with Toyota and others putting it to use, there's the feel good effect that the filter is reducing germs in the air, too. Quiet on low, audible on mid, turn up tv a little on high. Won't clear out a house of fried foods or smoke...not the size or type of filter for that. Plus, quicker to open doors and windows if the bbq gets out of hand in the kitchen.
