5.0 out of 5 stars No complaints here so far.
I just received the Sharp AQUOS 26" flat panel LCD TV and I have it wall mounted on a cantilever arm in my bedroom. I already have a 50 inch DLP in the living room, and both are hooked up to High Definition Tivos. The Sharp LCD has some of the best color I've seen. I'm really impressed so far with how easy it was to get this TV up and working. We simply connected the...

1.0 out of 5 stars The statement about "4000:1" contrast ratio appear to be incorrect
The text above (on 1/8/06) states that this television has a 4000:1 contrast ratio. However, when reading both the Sharp product information at http://www.sharpusa.com/products/ModelLanding/0,1058,1586,00.html and the CNet review at http://reviews.cnet.com/Sharp_LC_26DA5U_LCD_TV_26/4507-6482_7-31530025.html?tag=nav, it would appear that this TV only has an 800:1 contrast...

We simply connected the HDMI cable and the Power cable and voila we were up and working in a few minutes. It comes with a sleek looking stand if you want to place the TV on a table or other flat surface. It also has great sound for having small speakers on the side. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the speaker hookup but after trying it out a couple days I really like it. I'd reccomend this TV to any of my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Contrast Ratio Confusion, February 3, 2006

I have this exact TV, and I love it. I researched for a long time until I decided on this TV, plus I scrutinized with my eyes and came to the conclusion that there simply is not a better looking picture available for under $1000.

That said, I'd like to clarify what some have been complaining about, the advertised contrast ratio of 4000:1. This is, according to Sharp's tech specs, the "Dynamic Contrast Ratio," not the standard contast ratio, which is 800:1. Other TVs on Amazon claiming to have a 3000:1 contrast ratio are talking about their "Dynamic Contrast Ratio," not their standard contrast ratio. Therefore, this TV has a higher "Dynamic" ratio than the other advertised TVs. Hope this clears things up for some, and I whole-heartedly recommend the Aquos line of LCD TVs. Enjoy!

Excellent quality of picture, good contrast ratios, pretty intuitive to program and configure.

Of note - without the three color or HDMI DVI Cable, you will not get the full HD signal - this was not clear from our initial installation of the TV and attachment to the cable box.

We got our HDMI cable from monoprice.com for $6.44 + shipping

I purchased this TV based on reviews and seeing similar Sharp models in local stores. Overall product quality is excellent. Very stylish look-easy to set up and handle. Can hang on a wall if so desired. Cable hook-ups a little awkward due to back panel arrangement but nice clean look after finished. Audio and Video setup pretty straightforward-actually more choices than most people will need but nice to have the options. The default settings from the factory do need to be changed. Sound quality is tremendous for TV only speakers. Soundfield very spacious in simulated surround with good freq. response, balance and output level. I have DirecTV hookup w/o HD but picture quality excellent on most channels. Remote very intuitive and well-designed. For a price below $900 with free shipping and no tax-a no brainer! You will enjoy it-buy it!

I did a TON of research before paying this kind of money for a TV and it was well worth it. The Sharp Aquos 26DA5U is in my master bedroom and just got hooked up to my new HD DirecTV receiver. The colors are clear and sharp, the sound is great. I am really pleased with my purchase.

After trying to buy Sharp Aquos at Best Buy online and being informed that it would take 3 weeks to deliver, I ordered the flat panel television thru Amazon. It was shipped and I received it within a week! The quality of the picture is excellent and the speakers/sound are outstanding. The only small difficulty - the remote. I've tried to program several times and it will not accept certain non listed electronic devices. But all in all I'm very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'More to See' in Sharp's Aquos 26" LCD TV, May 28, 2006

We bought the Sharp Aquos LC-26DA5U 26" LCD TV a few weeks ago. Great picture quality, superb sound, stylish design. After a lot of research and numerous trips to stores, we narrowed our search down to Sony (picture), Samsung (price) and Sharp (middle ground). Sharp definitely gives you the best of both worlds - quality picture at a great price. One area for improvement - remote control design (reminds me of a laundry bat :-)). Thank you Amazon for the FREE standard shipping offer! Got the TV within a week of purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars The statement about "4000:1" contrast ratio appear to be incorrect, January 8, 2006

This review is from: Sharp Aquos LC-26DA5U 26-Inch HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV (Electronics)
The text above (on 1/8/06) states that this television has a 4000:1 contrast ratio. However, when reading both the Sharp product information at http://www.sharpusa.com/products/ModelLanding/0,1058,1586,00.html and the CNet review at http://reviews.cnet.com/Sharp_LC_26DA5U_LCD_TV_26/4507-6482_7-31530025.html?tag=nav, it would appear that this TV only has an 800:1 contrast ratio.

Others shopping around for LCD TVs might want this information when making their decision. Of note, the Samsung LN-R268W 26" television (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009612GQ/) has a 3000:1 contrast ratio which appears to be the highest in this class of television.
