This review is from: Sharp LC-32D4U AQUOS 32-Inch Flat Panel HD-Ready LCD TV (Electronics)
I spent months researching whether to buy plasma or LCD, deciding which size screen would best suit our needs, and which brand offers the best value/quality. Hands down, the Sharp Aquos line of LCDs is the best choice. Initially planned to buy the LC-32DA5U, but finally opted to spend a little more for the D4 series, which comes in black casing instead of silver, has enhanced sound quality (BBE and surround sound), a more advanced tuner, and a digital card slot. There is no better quality picture in the LCD line than Sharp. While many flat panel owners note that non-digital channels don't look so great, the Sharp tuner handles the lower channels very well, with a minimum of distortion. Buy the Sharp if you can, at least the DA5U series, and if you can spring for a couple hundred dollars more, get the 4U series. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent TV,
This review is from: Sharp LC-32D4U AQUOS 32-Inch Flat Panel HD-Ready LCD TV (Electronics)
After much research, decided on this TV. Amazon had the best price ($300 less than Circuit City and Sears). Shipment arrived on schedule and TV is amazing. Love the black cabinet color. Cable Card worked, but much slower at changing channels than the HD Cable Box so am not using it.

Sharp Aquos has quality issues,

This review is from: Sharp LC-32D4U AQUOS 32-Inch Flat Panel HD-Ready LCD TV (Electronics)
Original message from June 2006:Bought Sharp Aquos, loved it - great picture, sound. However, it died in one week. It would turn off by itself occassionally, and then a couple of days later it died for good. Only a flashing LED. Looked on the internet for problems with Aquos, and saw a whole slew of people have issues. It dies for more than one reason. Sharp Customer support got me to take it to a local repair shop, and it took 4 WEEKS to get it fixed. Very frustrating experience. Brand new TV sitting at a repair shop for 4 weeks. There were several other Aquos (different sizes, models) sitting in the shop. Once it was fixed, the picture and everything looks great. Based on what I gathered from various other reviews on different sites, it is a great design, but Sharp has quality issues. Don't know what percentage of the TV suffer the "infant mortality". Update (Nov 5,2006) In Sept, the TV started acting up again. In October, it died again for good. Sharp has agreed to exchange it with, I am assuming, a new set. Currently waiting on the replacement.
