Took possession of the D6U in January...just in time for the Super Bowl. I think an HDTV should be judge in 3 areas:

* Picture resolution/viewing angle/brightness

* Inputs

* Tangibles (look, etc)

* Support

What's to Like:

The D6U will handle up to 1080i. This will hold any viewer over for many years to come. Even now some of the best HDTV broadcast are done in 720p....so 1080 i should provide many years of excellent TV viewing. The set has excellent viewing angles...170/170...meaning you can actually sit to the side of this set and still see the picture. The set also has a 4000:1 contrast ratio...so the colors are very bright and pop off the screen. DIn addition, DVDs look stunning!

There are 4 inputs in the D6U. The standard S-video, component, HDMI and digital audio. This provides more than enough inputs for todays components...DVR, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, etc.

Looks....the set looks great. It is almost a brushed nuckle, metallic polish look to the set...whould look great in any decor. Finally, support. I initially purchased the 32 inch model, but one of the inputs would not automatically detect the cable attached to the set. I called Sharp support for some troubleshooting guidance. They walked me through a system reset...but the set still did not respond. Sharp stated that an Aquos Support staff member would call to further help. However, I decided to simply return the TV for the next model up (37 inch D6U). I did not notify Sharp of what happened so in the next three days Sharp called my house in an effort to help me resolve the issue (left a message on the answering machine). Finally, they sent a letter since I didn't return the phone calls (was alittle busy). I later called and gave them an update. Overall...this was the best customer service followup I have ever received. The customer service was top notch and they really seemed to care about resolving the issue!

What not too like:

Number of HDMI inputs. Many sets coming out this Spring and into the Christmas buying season will go to two HDMI inputs. Very helpful with next gen technologies and Set Top boxes using the HDMI input.

This is my first LCD HDTV set....and I couldn't be happier. The set produces an excellent picture, vibrant sound and has enough inputs to satisfy any viewer. Highly recommend!

Bought this a month ago through One Call on Amazon. Got a great deal at $2350. I set up an over the air antenna and (thanks to the built-in tuner) now have access to 5 regular HD broadcast channels. The difference from regular TV is quite pronounced.

This tv has great sound and is quite compact due to the speakers being mounted below the screen. It fit in a space that a regular 32" tv used to fit in.

Picture quality is great. Regular TV (be careful) looks so so. I imagine its the same for all HD tv sets.

My wife and I recently bought this TV after deciding that the DLP projector setup we had wasn't going to work as a long-term movie-watching solution. We use the TV for watching movies, playing our Wii, and as a photo/music display with the Mac Mini that serves as our media hub.

Overall, I've been pleased with the TV. There are an adequate number of inputs on the back (2 sets each in and out of component and composite, 1 HDMI connector), the (removable) bottom speaker is fairly competent, and the set-top controls are simple to use. The rear of the TV has two plastic panels that cover the input and power connections for a neat appearance instead of the usual rat's nest of cables behind the set.

The picture is bright and clear, and the viewing angle seems to be quite large. The LCD has a fairly fast reponse time (I haven't seen any ghosting, even though I like action movies), deep blacks, and good color balance. Out of the box the colors needed quite a bit of adjustment, but once set things look very life-like.

My two nits are a stuck pixel (only one, stuck "on" green) and the remote, which has to be the most ungainly thing I've ever seen. At almost a foot long, you wouldn't guess that the buttons and labels are so small as to be unreadble in low light. Sharp's policy is that a single stuck pixel is not enough to warrant a return. Since it's a green pixel, it's only visible a small percentage of the time, and at the resolution this TV has , it is so small as to be essentailly invisible at normal viewing distances.

I would buy this TV again.
