Customer Reviews

I love this TV because it has a beautiful picture and is easy to set up.
Amazon Customer
No visible damage on box or exteriour of unit but you could tell a layer was broken internally and there were lines all over the tv.
And everything is so crisp, with deep, deep blacks and pure, icy whites.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Executive Summary: awesome quality TV with an overwhelming number of features and supported technologies.

There are way too many features to cover in a review, but I’ll try my darnedest to hit all the highlights. I hope you're sitting comfortable; this is gonna take awhile!

First off… ask yourself if you really want/need all of these features. That’s what you need to figure out first. I am comparing this TV to my other Sharp 60” LED 1080p TV that’s about 3 years old and costs half as much. Even without the Quattron and all the bells & whistles, the older one had the best picture I had ever experienced. This new Q+ TV also has an amazing picture, but in a comparison where I didn’t know which was which, I would be hard-pressed to identify a clear winner in picture quality.

But let’s assume, like me, you're kind of a tech geek and want every last doo-hickie you can get, and that’s why you’re reading reviews for this TV...

Great Picture Quality:
Check. If that’s all that matters, you don’t have to read the rest of this nonsense.

Audio Quality:
They claim 35W with subwoofer, and the audio is definitely fine if you’re just watching TV, but let’s face it, if you’re looking at a TV this advanced, chances are you’ll have it hooked up to a nice surround sound AV receiver. If not, I’m a little concerned about you. Built in TV audio is not acceptable for big action movies except to a generation that grew up watching video on their laptop. If your subwoofer doesn’t make the windows shake when the asteroid blows up, this TV might be overkill. As I saw another reviewer mention, I have seen a couple of lip sync issues for which I needed to stop and start the video to make go away. I think it may happen less with the “film mode” turned off.

I originally bought the Samsung UN60ES8000 and noticed some severe "pixel-ation" issues and shadows behind and around the letters on the screen so I returned it and got the Sharp LC-70UQ17U after doing some more in depth research and visiting Best Buy a couple times to look at the tv's. At Best buy I was told that the Samsung 8000 series was one of the best on the market. Honestly I could not believe that 8000 Series looked like that.
Once I got home and hooked the Sharp up it proved to be a great choice. This tv blows that Samsung out. There is no square pixeling around the letters and the round letters are nice and smooth. The image is super bright and just as clear as an Ultra 4K. If you buy this you will not be disappointed. If you read the bad reviews on Amazon they are all about dead pixels or a cracked screen. So they're not accurate of the actual quality of the image. For the reviews saying there is image loss from a side angle that is completely wrong. Go to Best Buy and look for yourself. The 3d isn't the best when simply converting regular 2d to 3d but when watching a 3d movie it is just like the theaters and how often do you watch regular tv is 3d? I would definitely recommend buying this tv but make sure you pay for the better Q17U model with the THX and 12,000,000:1 contrast ratio and you won't be disappointed. This thing weighs like 100lbs and has a super solid base made of metal and weighs about 10 lbs alone. To me a heavier tv means better quality. No cheap plastic here. The Samsung had a really light base and wasn't stable at all. If you buy this Sharp and think you may like another tv more then buy a Samsung or Sony and compare them at your house side by side and see the difference. Best Buy will allow a return for any reason with in 15 days.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
So let's start with the conclusion and work backwards. This is a fantastic screen; it is vivid, beautifully designed and engineered, and performs brilliantly - and speaking of brilliance, the power saving feature that measures ambient light in the room and adjusts accordingly is the best I've seen in this class (it steps incrementally rather than exists as a binary and sometimes jolting feature). If you want to be able to access 4K video but feel (rightly, I would say) that it's premature to jump into the fully-4k-capable market, then you are going to be hard-pressed to find a better option than this -- a screen that can receive the signal, and then processes through 1080p into Q+. That ("hard pressed to find a better option"), coming from someone who felt there was no better CRT than 2004's Sony 34XBR960, or that the 2008-2009 Pioneer (yes, Pioneer) Kuros stood atop a densely populated plasma market at least until the Panasonic (which inherited much of the Kuros tech) last generation (ever) ZT line released. My point here is not that this particular Aquos is similarly going to go down in the history books as "the best that ever was", but I think it's fair to say that it's in a discussion for the best value for your dollar there is *right now* (with some serious qualifiers to that; those who value their blacks will want to read closely), and that is something.

Let me say that I've been a bigger fan of plasmas than LED/LCD screens to this point. I appreciated the much deeper blacks, and I've had great luck (until recently) avoiding any burn-in issues at all with them, despite each getting substantial daily use including, but not limited to, console gaming.
