Fine...but not if it's refurbished,

The battery is fine. However, the only one listed here is refurbished. Lithium-ion batteries lose their capacity as they age (that's why I want a new one in the first place); and the idea of refurbishing lithium-ion batteries is...dubious at best. Some people claim it can't be done; others say it can; still others claim that it just means they took the battery out of a unit that was returned, tested it, and decided it was OK. The seller here, IT Equipment Express, did not respond when I asked what kind of testing had been done.So instead I contacted Dynamism, a company that imports gadgets from Japan (they used to sell the Zaurus 6000, for example). It wasn't on their Website, but they were able to find me a new one in Japan and ship it over. Plus, they charged me significantly less than IT Equipment Express was asking. |
