The compact design, about the size of a minidisc case, features a clamshell opening mechanism. There is a three-mode extra-bass system for rich sound and 10-second antishock memory so your music won't skip if the player is jarred or knocked about.
This player comes with headphones, an AC adapter, an optical digital cable, and an RCA-to-miniplug cable.

This review is from: Sharp MDMT20 S Minidisc Player / Recorder with Anti Shock (Electronics)
I spent a long time looking for a minidisc player to meet my needs and that was consistent with my being a tight-wad. Hello Sharp MDMT20. This is a great basic minidisc player/recorder and any shortcomings are missing bells and whistles that you can pay more money for if you'd like. ...this particular unit is a great starting place. .... It feels sturdy enough, sounds excellent for a portable stereo device, and is plenty small ... If you plan to record from a CD player or stereo (in either analog or optical digital output) the unit comes with everything you could want to get started except for a blank minidisc. The instruction booklet is very clearly written and getting started is a piece of cake. Note that if you want to record from your computer (MP3s anyone?) you will want to purchase a patch cable to go from your soundcard to the MDMT20 with male stereo miniplugs on both ends (mine was cheap and they are widely available). If you want to record lectures or live music, you will need to purchase a microphone. I wasted too much time sitting on the fence thinking about buying a minidisc recorder, worrying about buying the "perfect" one, the differences between digital and analog recordings, etc. Jump on in - The format ROCKS and the Sharp MDMT20 is a wonderful introduction to the world of portable digital recording.

This Model is a PLAYER/RECORDER with only 10-Second Shock Resistant Memory (when most have 40 sec.), Multi Function Remote Control and 3-Mode Digital X-Bass . It sounds pretty good, but it lacks a good buildquality, that you might expect from SHARP . It looks great and user-friendly, but it's just no IT ... you'd expect from a company like SHARP that it would release a better device that could compete with those of other companies, and most of all - with SONY . Don't get me wrong - I like this MD, and use it alot, but I was kinda disapointed .

This minidisc player/recorder has great recording and it has great sound. I wish that Sharp could have made a better remote for this recorder. The recorder has 6 buttons (play/pause, stop, fast foward, rewind, bass, hold) and doesn't show a display of what track is coming up and how many minutes it is etc. The cord for the remote is pretty long and it sometimes is a mess to untangle. I was wondering how do you put the anti-skip on so that it wouldn't skip. I tried to lok for it but couldn't find it. It doesn't even write "anti skip" on the box. If you know anything about it, please write it in the customer review.
