It's a Sharp Looking Microwave, February 20, 2009
This review is from: Sharp R-1520LK Over The Range Microwave (Kitchen)
We had the lower model of R-1520 and we really liked it. Because of an accident we had to replace it (I didn't do it. I wasn't even home). We have a certain look in our kitchen and we like a microwave that has the control panel hidden. (Most controls look cheap and flimsy.) Although this model is not the highest rated out there it still does everything we need it to do. All I can see that it's missing is a center rack so you can place two items inside at once. I installed it by myself and found the instructions to be easy to understand and the installation simple. It is a bit heavy so you may need some help lifting it. My doctor says I should regain full use of my legs when my back is out of traction. (Just kidding.) If you are looking for a good-looking, well built, easy to operate, nice featured, easy to install microwave I say this is a good choice.

From Sharp Minds come Dangerous Products!, September 22, 2009
This review is from: Sharp R-1520LK Over The Range Microwave (Kitchen)
Please note this review specifically relates to the R-2110JW model. However it may influence your decision making.
The Sharp "smart Carousel" design uses rotating magnetrons below the surface of the cooking chamber instead of rotating the food on a carousel. The rotating mechanism under the cooking chamber malfunctioned. As a result arcing occurred between the parts causing a fire and smoke. The unit was turned off in time to avoid a fire spreading to the surrounding cabinets. If no one had been present in the kitchen at the time a serious fire could have occurred.
The defect was bad enough. I consider myself lucky the damage was only to the microwave. Dealing with Sharp customer service was even worse. It has taken over two months to resolve this problem. Sharp offered me a replacement but couldn't get a new unit in white. We suggested paying the difference for an upgrade. We paid the difference for the upgrade...the sharp couldn't find it in white...even though I was able to locate a unit in white in about 5 minutes online. After giving up on a replacement and requesting a refund they "generously" offered me $183 for a product I paid $262. A product that endangered my home and family and had left me without a microwave for two months.
I've enjoyed Sharp products in the past but after this incident I can not recommend doing business with them under any circumstances.

Poor Quality Control, March 26, 2009
This review is from: Sharp R-1520LK Over The Range Microwave (Kitchen)
First Sharp R-1520LK cooked ok but fan wouldn't run therefore was a fire hazzard. Sent back to Amazon. Can't believe Amazon didn't double box as all the foam packing was all busted. Manufactured in 2009.
Second Sharp R-1520LK wouldn't cook in High mode. Everything came out luke warm at best. Popcorn only popped 40% of the corn. Fan did work on this one. This microwave was purchased locally.
If I can get my money back I'm going to get a GE from Home Depot. Otherwise I'm stuck with a repaired Sharp. The word "Lemon" keeps coming up. Manufactured in 2008.
