4.0 out of 5 stars Two years later still doing the job
I have had this microwave for two years now. It is easy to use, works just fine and looks nice and sleek in the kitchen. I use it mostly for heating up food rather than cooking it, and for popcorn, etc- fast things. I have large fingers and have no problem with the size of the "buttons" . My last one, an IntelliChef, was more expensive than this and now I wonder why I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Kind of flimsy
It works, but when you close the door, it is pretty loud. My previous Sharp microwave was built much sturdier and the door closed a lot more quietly. This one sounds like cheap plastic. Better to check the item in a store to see what it is like before purchasing. But otherwise, it works ok so far.

I have had this microwave for two years now. It is easy to use, works just fine and looks nice and sleek in the kitchen. I use it mostly for heating up food rather than cooking it, and for popcorn, etc- fast things. I have large fingers and have no problem with the size of the "buttons" . My last one, an IntelliChef, was more expensive than this and now I wonder why I spent all that money on it ( it started smoking after 6 years of use) when this Sharp would have been fine. I just edited this review (today's date is 12/7/2009) as my original review (Nov. 2007) was written shortly after I bought it. I am glad I bought this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely satisfied, February 29, 2008
This review is from: Sharp R-306LK Mid Size 1.0 Cu Ft Black Microwave (Kitchen)
I recently moved to a new home and needed to furnish my kitchen. I bought this microwave, a coffee maker and a toaster oven all from Amazon. I am completely satisfied with this microwave. The user guide is simple to follow. I have had to refer to it a few times because the cooking directions are a little different (for example, you enter the minutes first then the power level if you want a lower setting). Once you've heated a frozen corndog or defrosted ground beef a couple of times it becomes very easy. I would recommend this microwave.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent value!, December 29, 2007
This review is from: Sharp R-306LK Mid Size 1.0 Cu Ft Black Microwave (Kitchen)
We were replacing a microwave that had lasted for years. The Sharp is a magnificent value and we've been very pleased (2 months) so far. It is far more powerful than I expected. My only caution, and this is not negative, more of an FYI, is that the door is VERY LIGHT. I find myself slamming it all the time completely unintentionally. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars I'm getting rid of it!!!, July 7, 2009

I have had it with this microwave! I had another microwave, which lasted about 15 years (wish I still had it), but eventually the buttons stopped working. Then someone gave me this one. The one thing to be aware of with this microwave is that it is an ENERGY HOG. If you have anything else plugged in and operating nearby, be prepared for your fuses to blow and your breakers to pop. This microwave completely blew out our electrical system. Probably not an issue with brand new or newer homes, but definitely an issue with older homes! Ours is from the 50s or 60s, but was moved & remodeled in the 90s, so the wiring is not that old. I also hate the functions, i.e. that you can't defrost for a specific amount of time. I don't think it's very user friendly at all. The other thing is the size. I saw this microwave was under the "mid-size" category, but it is absolutely enormous. I'm getting another compact, low-wattage microwave like my last one, and doing away with this huge hog. But the electricity sucking, fuse-blowing problem is by far the most frustrating. I'm sorry, but you should be able to have more than one or two appliances on at the same time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Microwave, March 19, 2007
This review is from: Sharp R-306LK Mid Size 1.0 Cu Ft Black Microwave (Kitchen)
It works, but has too many options. Mostly use a microwave to see the time in a dark kitchen, heat water for coffee and defrosting. You can't see the timer in a dark room - it has no back light. The buttons are smaller than our previous Samsung microwave of 22 years. Defrosting requires pushing a button 8 times to make the unit adjust to 30% power - ridiculous! Or touch defrost button, Identify boneless poultry, poultry with bone in, steak, or ground meat. Now you have to know the weight of the item. Or at least estimate the weight. Now touch start button. When did you last know the weight of a chicken breast or two, side by side? Uh! half pound - sounds good to me.
