Great Microwave,

I bought this microwave to replace one at work that suddenly quit working. I needed one that was full size and at least 1000 watts. This microwave is great. It has multiple presets for defrost, reheat and cook, works flawlessly and looks sleek. I highly recommend it.

Was nice while it lasted,
By I wouldn't recommend this microwave, generally, not just because of my problem with it, but because of the complicated controls. There are easier to use microwaves out there. Incidentally, the website I bought this from (not this one) said that it had a sensor. It doesn't.

Great except for one thing,

This microwave is nearly perfect. It is a good medium-large size, looks nice and does not show excessive fingerprints. The controls are easy and useful and it performs well.
The only thing that really annoys the heck out of me is that the clock/time display is very difficult to read, particularly from an angle or a distance. There is no contrast. You really have to be looking straight on, up close, to read it. My previous microwave had a display that was very easy to read, so I don't understand why this one is so difficult. It is going to bug me for the lifetime of this microwave, because it's too much of a pain to return it to Amazon.

one thing that bothers me about this microwave oven is the door latch. It seems to be a bit unstable and i am wondering how long it will last. Time will tell. I guess they do not make things like they uses to

Solid, large microwave that has fit my needs,

I've used this microwave since January 2007 (3 years and counting) and it has served me well. For my simple purposes of re-heating leftovers or mugs of hot soy milk, this sharp is more than sufficient and 99% of my heating needs are fulfilled with times of less than 2.5 minutes.
The microwave is a little loud but it's not terrible by any means. It's a big enough oven than you can fit full-size plates and dishes inside. I've had issues with the defrost function, which doesn't have an intuitive setup and is hard to figure out. That said, I rarely use this function. If your needs are simple, this Sharp could work for you.

I have always been very pleased and trusted Sharp brands, would not have bought any other brand, but, I have had this microwave for about 3 months and one morning it made this roaring sound and it did not heat my coffee. I tried it again and it did the same thing. So, I unplugged it and I have to buy another one. Still looking for the receipt to take it back. C. Arkansas

Panasonic finally died (after 8 years!!) but I couldn't find another to replace it so my criteria being the dimensions of the old, I chose this Sharp model. It works well, but the old Panasonic had more preset buttons (popcorn, beverage, ... etc) which we used pretty extensively. It still reheats my coffee well, but it takes longer than our previous model in cooking sweet potatoes.

Bad product,
By The problem is that it broke within a year. It has been making a screeching and squealing sound when trying to heat food. Granted we do use it every day because it is in our office, but I hoped it would last at least a year! |
