Good Weather station, but difficult to program,

This review is from: Sharp® Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
We have been using his wireless weather station for about 3 weeks now and are generally very happy with it.It's attractive, big letters/numbers are easy to read, AND we are getting very good range from the transmitter, about 300 feet to the INSIDE of our barn. A few negatives to point out: 1. The BLUE backlit background only happens when you press a button and it only lasts a few minutes, then it reverts to the usual silver/black letters. 2. Programming is a bit difficult and you need to KEEP the little instruction manual handy. 3. We're finding it VERY difficult to buy an extra transmitter so we can know the outside temp AND the Temp inside our barn. (It's supposed to support 3 transmitters.) Overally, we are happy with the purchase, but the few negatives above keep us from being thrilled with the product... ...and once again........don't lose the manual. fjhs3

Just received, appears to be very good quality. Somewhat tricky to program but instructions are adequate and with a little diligent reading I got it going.I purchased it mainly for the transmitter that I wanted to put in my greenhouse so I could get the temp without going there. I was concerned about the distance of the remote transmission and whether the base unit would pick it up in the house. The greenhouse is about 50' from the house. The base unit picked up the temp from as far as our kitchen which is in the middle of the house. That is as far as I wanted to go so didn't test further. Since that is more than the 100' they advertised I'm happy. So far I'm very pleased with the Sharp Weather Station. As far as I can tell this unit is not made by the Japanese electronics company named Sharp. If this item holds up and does not eat too many batteries I think it is a bargain. I'm looking for an additional transmitter (it takes up to 3). Like the other reviewer, have not had any success so far. If anyone finds a source I hope they will let us know where to buy.

The item was a gift to my son. i di not open the outside box---but my son did and found the box with the Sharp weather-station opened and taped up again and not functioning correct, until after sevral tries. It most certainly has been used and sent back, And it was ordered and charged as a new one. So I am not happy with this deal Margrit Minkevich [...] |
