Nifty fax machine,
This review is from: Sharp UXB20 Inkjet Fax Machine (Office Product)
The Sharp UX-B20 fax machine is easy to set up, does all that I want in a fax machine, prints on plain paper, and uses an ink jet cartridge rather than the hard-to-install roll of ink film. Also, the design of the machine is the "cleanest" and most compact I've seen. The ink cartridge is expensive, about twice as expensive as a roll of ink film. However, it will last about 500 sheets whereas a roll of ink film will only last about 250 sheets. So, the cost of the cartridge is very comparable. Rolls of film are usually about half the cost of the cartridge. Half the cost, but only half the number of sheets!! I like this machine!!

I confess I don't think much of fax machines in general; they're painfully antiquated and I don't have much confidence in my transmissions -- but I'll try to separate that out from my review.
My wife needed a fax for her online retail business -- they're still a simple fact of life. This was the cheapest I could find given the rebate. I ran out of ink quicker than I expected. There is no power switch and there doesn't seem to be a pass-through for the regular phone; I guess it's meant for a dedicated line. This necessitates a lot of cable-plugging when it's time to use it. At one point, after about 5 months, it begun spinning its rollers and complaining of a nonexistent paper jam. After finding that there were no nearby service centers I was going to give up and find a new machine, but I found a FAQ on the Sharp site advising that I turn it on while holding down the Stop and Go keys, which worked.

Ordered this through Amazon and was happy with response time and shipping. This fax machine is ideal for a small office/home office with a dedicated fax line. Believe it or not, I just replaced my old Sharp fax that used the thermal rolls which I prefer since no ink supplies were necessary. But so far this works great. It has way more features and funtionality than I will ever need since I just send and receive occassional faxes. Quality is excellent and set up was quick and easy. Footprint is small too so it doesn't take much desk space. I only have one small complaint. The lowest number of rings you can set it to when receiving a fax is 2 rings. I would prefer a Zero setting, so I don't have to hear it ring at all. But at this price, how can you complain? It's worth the $90 (including shipping.)

Junk - If you want to, you could just throw your money out the window,

This broke after about 20 sheets of paper. The intake doesn't work now and I have to hand-feed each sheet very carefully. Even then it only "takes" about half the time. It doesn't work for incoming because of this either. Total waste of money.

I bought this fax machine simply to receive and send fax. Due to this simple reason i did not spend any time trying to figure how this fax machine might be different than other normal fax machine.
Well, one thing that i have realized in couple of the non-conventional fax machine like this one where it doesn't uses the old fax roll paper is that. The ink runs out real quick, despite its suggested amount of faxes or copies you can make with one ink replacement. In addition to it's Hummer Like ink comsumption, i find the ink replacement rather expensive and it has cost me quite a fortune just to receive faxes from my parents(not even for office use). I have both send and reived approximate amount of 30 faxes and i am already on my second ink and about to change for the 3rd ink. I definitely would not suggest this for an environment that requires heavy duty tasks like office or else you will find it quite frustrating spending more money on ink than your fax machine after months. In addition, the machine doesn't seem to eat the paper right when you send, so make sure you don't put a pile in at the same time. One other thing i don't like is that after every fax there is always the feekback which forces you to print it anyway and even if you try to press stop/cancel or even try to remove the paper it simply would to stop the machine from having the message of printing feedback. Lastly, all I am doing here is do bring the worst situation that had happened to me to the people out there. If you look at most of my reviews for other products, you will tend to find my comments to be a bit pessimistic simplt because a lot of time i find it useful having to bring the worst and hope for the best that way you don't feel as bad after that. But please do not be swayed by me or any of the other reviewers out there after seeing the low ratings or the not so good comments. All these reviews are supposed to be a reference, the actual product might differ amount different users despite of hardware or malfunction. Last but not least, most certainly do not buy items without doing research or at least looking at the reviews since some reviews might help.

Got a problem here,

I purchased the fax machine on the internet for the purpose of making it my personal fax machine for home use. I have internet phone service and it seems that this fax machine doesn't do too well in the digital world. Tech support told me that sometimes it will work and sometimes not! Nowhere in the sales process was I informed about this little problem. Not even in the packaging that came with the machine. Not a happy guy.

This fax machine has not been around long enough for me to give a really full assessment. However, I thought setup was a snap, the menus are easy to access and follow, AND it feeds pages better when faxing more than one sheet in comparison to a fax machine four times the cost! This is a nice, basic fax machine.

I liked my original sharp same model which I had for years. When it came time to replace it, I found all the other models cost a great deal more.
