The Sharp VL-AH60U ViewCam makes it easy to capture great-looking videos. Its analog Hi8 format produces higher-quality images than either standard 8mm or VHS-C camcorders. Instead of using a standard viewfinder, the ViewCam utilizes a large, easy-to-see 3.5-inch LCD, making video taping nearly as easy as watching a TV show. The LCD monitor absorbs light to help prevent glare, and is fingerprint resistant. The lens on the VL-AH60U rotates 270 degrees, which is helpful when you're recording yourself, allowing for some interesting angles, and a 16:9 widescreen mode lets you shoot video in the same aspect ratio as the movies.

The camera's automatic features make it easy for even beginners to produce great looking results. Backlight compensation helps eliminate the darkened silhouettes that are common with strong backlighting, and digital image stabilization eliminates jitters and other unwanted camera movement. Two fade modes with title/character sets for holidays and birthdays, as well as a title writer, let you add text captions to your films. Flying erase heads allow smooth, clean edits, which aid in quality movie creation. The VL-HA60U also has the ability to charge batteries internally. Included with the ViewCam are a remote control and an AV cable.

i upgraded from 8 to hi-8. this camcorder is really easy to use and transfer to vhs tape. editing is a snap and alot of fun to do. i'm paralized from the waist down and i created a couple of movies from my perspective ( i fastened my vl-ha60u camcorder on my shoulder ) and just filmed my goings on. all my family / friends thought it was pretty cool! everyone i've played a recording for were suprised at the quality of the film. i use the vhs tapes that you get 5 for 4.99, so you don't have to pour out alot of monies just to operate it. i have only 2 gripes about this camcorder...#1- needs a better lens cap...mine pops off every time, always before i'm ready to shoot! #2- the gadget bag that comes with it is a piece of junk! they shouldn't even bother to send it. by sending along such a cheap/chintzy/crummy gadget bag, it's like Sharp condones shoddy, cheap, even "ugly" crafts- manship. neither of my gripes reflect on the main issue...the high quality and performence of this camcorder. i give it 4 1/2 stars with-out hesitation!.....ENJOY!

The best thing about the VLAH 60U is that you don't have to worry: the lighting doesn't matter, the acoustics don't matter, the person shooting the scene doesn't matter. It always seems to come out great.
We had a christening, and my mother in law came from Lithuania to be part of it. She speaks virtually no English, and my Lithuanian could be called pathetic. I gave her the camera, and with a few gestures and a minimum of words, she was able to get some great shots, despite the fact that the church was dark and the PA system sucked....That is good in a family camera.
The only problem is that ..., and it has no remote or in camera charger. Those two things are very desirable and would make it even better. I'm hoping to find both someday.

I bought this about 3 weeks ago and will not use anything else. The ease of this Camcorder is great. The Menus are good and the Book that came with it is pretty good. I did have to call Tech Support on some Thing that I was not sure on but she was very helpful and did not make me feel small for calling on this. I will keep that a secret for the reason that I called. Keep up the Good Work Sharp.
