Obviously these are discontinued now, but if you can find one then you should absolutely invest in it! I originally purchased this register for use during local carnivals, fairs, and festivals around the state in our food booth/pavilion. Two concerns prompted me to purchase this item: the temptation of volunteers to pocket the cash instead of putting the money in the drawer, and the second concern was avoiding any design where the keys would stick from all the food handling. Because of all the built in journaling and cashier tracking and slick plastic keyboard, this register meets all these concerns. Because you never know what might be on the menu depending on the event, this machine is easily reprogrammable and to change the keys you simply print out an 8 1/2 by 11 page and slip it under the plastic! All the inventory tracking is great, because you can easily see what items worked, how profitable the entire event turned out to be, and which worker in the booth was goofing off (or possibly pocketing some cash if their totals weren't close to the others!). It's weight isn't too terrible, but the cash drawer is definately heavy enough that you won't fear someone walking off with it very easily!! It's cashier operation is about as simple as you could want... one bratwurst, press the bratwurst button once... need two, press it twice... changed your mind, press void and then the bratwurst button! My only complaint: it doesn't plug in to a credit card terminal. If Sharp would come out with a new model that would integrate with all credit card terminals out there, I would buy it. Overall, you'll just love this machine. (Don't even fool the frustrations of a Royal or the cheapness of Casio, this is the one you want.)

Departments Excellent - Look Up Keys a Little More Cumbersome,

This review is from: Sharp XE-A302 High-Speed Cash Register (Office Product)
It's a solid machine and just take a look around and you'll see it everywhere. However, programming can be tedious, particularly the price-look-up keys. The Department Keys of which there are six are great. Reports are more than adequate and the RS232 port allows the export of raw data.Have used it for a couple of years now and have to re-program it every six months or so to keep up with product/service changes and I have to review my notes. So my advice is "KEEP THE DOCS", you'll need them. |
