and won't print on duplicate paper. You can set it to print receipts OR print a sales journal but not both. If you need to record individual sales AND give out customer receipts, then this otherwise nicely streamlined and easy to use cash register is not for you.

The printer doesn't press hard enough for use with duplicate paper rolls and there is no way to program it to print another copy of the receipt. Too bad, this simple feature would make it perfect. It does print a very basic summary report of each department's sales totals with total cash/credit/check sales when prompted. But just the totals.

So head's up if you need a copy receipt or duplicate printing function, this model won't do.

The ink for this register is contained in a tiny foam roller about 1/2 inch long and 3/8 inch in diameter. Consequently, the ink gets depleted very quickly. The customer service rep for the company which makes replacement ink rollers for this machine told me that this tiny ink roller is intended for a calculator and not suitable for a cash register which would be used frequently in a retail environment.

I returned this unit and, for a few dollars more, bought a Casio PCR-T265, which has a thermal printer.

This cash register is well designed for a small use service like mine- It could be a little faster, but all in all, it is perfect for our use

This works well once you take about 30 mins to program it. Overall I would reccommend this to anybody.

It's a good cash register for the money. I own a season Christmas Tree farm. I have an outdoor lot. It is often cold and sometimes wet. I need a cash register that will work well in less than favorable conditions, but I don't want to spend a lot on once because I know even the best ones will eventually die in the nasty conditions.

So far this season the register is working well. On days often only in the upper 20s the register worked well. Other registers I've had stopped working because of the cold, but this one kept working.

Programming is simple It comes programmed with basic tax and tax-free departments. All you have to do is program the date and time and tax rate, and all is ready! Other registers I've had recently you have to program the tax rate for each and every department which can take forever!

The only complaints I have is that the printing is a bit slow and you can't make receipt copies. Other than that this is a good little register for the money.

I bought this register to use at an outdoor mkt without electricity. It only has battery back up not battery operation. The register works fine when plugged in.

The cash register works as expected. I take it to trade/craft shows and it works out just fine.

I have had three and all three have died. These are prone to main board failures. And these can occur out of the blue in the middle of business hours. I used them in my bar and where are u going to buy a new register at 12 o'clock at night? I'll never buy one again. Google the error there are many people that this has happened to. These have been around for at least four years and Sharp can't use a better main board? Guess their profile margin is more important than long term customer commitment.

We use this Sharp XEA102 cash register for our small business, both in the shop and at shows, and have been fairly happy with the features and performance. This is about as basic as we would want to go since we need the ability to assign product keys to keep track of different categories of sale items. Here are my observations:

Pros-
+ Good Basic Functions; can set tax rate, product keys, daily totals, etc
+ Easy to Use; once setup (see "Cons" below), it is easy to run and to teach employees to use

Cons-
- Cumbersome to Setup; following the directions will work, but far from intuitive

This meets our needs and has been very reliable, even after moving it around between the shop and several shows a year.

This register is slow and painful but that I could deal with. The fact that we have had two in a row die after a year of use pretty much says it all. In the meantime it does very odd things that make no sense. It is very unreliable. If you don't need to use it much, I am sure it will be fine.
