This review is from: Sharp XLDK257N 160 Watts Total Output Micro System with Docking Slot for iPod Device (Black) (Electronics)
I was looking (very hard I might add) for a quality ipod unit/charger/player for somewhat of a descent price. This certainly fit the bill. I gave it a try and am very happy with the features and quality. The sound is surprising from such a small unit. I went ahead and upgraded and purchased (seperately) a sub-woofer from sony. Now it freaking rocks! It also has an out to hook up to your TV, very nice. The only downside is the remote, whoever designed this thing needs a check up at a mental outpatient facility. No matter which way you hold it, the remote looks and feels upside down, the controls are not where you think they should be...very annoying. Its livable but annoying.

Best I've found!,

I have been looking for a long time to find an ipod docking stereo system that is at least close to perfect. This one comes pretty close. I have bought other systems and returned them, but this one is a keeper.
Sound: Great Sound, preset EQs are good Rivals bose, so DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A BOSE which has no radio, no cd, and extremely limited control on the remote or the unit. Remote: Simple to use, plus it does have enter and menu functions for the ipod on the remote Other GREAT features: Looks great, doesn't have the gaudy metallic, spaceship,or boombox look of past sharp systems. Price: You definitely won't find a system this nice with all the right features for a better price. Aux in for another mp3 player or your DVD/BluRay There is a video out on this system for your video equipped ipod!!! very convenient and the picture on the TV is great. You won't find many systems with this feature, and it is a great one. Draw Backs: Very short speaker wires (obviously not a huge deal because it is a problem easily remedied with a trip to radio shack) Limited system controls on the unit (don't loose the remote)

Great Little Unit That Cranks and Looks Sleek,
This review is from: Sharp XLDK257N 160 Watts Total Output Micro System with Docking Slot for iPod Device (Black) (Electronics)
My previous Panasonic Shelf CD Player just died a few days ago and I did a lot of online research for a replacement. Everywhere I read favorable or enthusiastic reviews on this Sharp unit and only a few complaints.
The speakers have clarity and the sound is rich and bold with no distortion at higher volumes. The unit has very simple sraightforward controls and the remote doesn't require a PHD to learn and as did the old Panasonic. Great performance from the CD player and the FM antenna. No one mentions that that the IPod docking station as shown in all the photos that lies down and protrudes in front of the unit may be closed when not in use blending seamlessly into the main unit. The system and speakers are also sleek and attractive in the black. Yes the speakers have standard double-ended wires that barely reach 5-6 feet. My only complaint is that the equalizer presets do not offer much contrast in the sound output. Since the speakers have such a rich midrange I wish there was a preset that would boost the treble moreso as I listen to much classical music. There is also an illuminated blue light around the circular volume control that may be shut off if desired. When playing CD's, a short time after the CD ends the system will also power itself off. For this price range this is an awesome little unit that packs a punch and perfoms admirably. It was just on sale at Best Buy for $139 after Christmas.
