5.0 out of 5 stars HIgh School teacher's best friend!, March 16, 2007
This review is from: Sharp XR-11XC Multimedia DLP Projector (Office Product)
I bought one of these to use in my High School Biology/Chemistry classroom as the School only has a few and the teachers share them. Hardly a day has gone by that I haven't used it. My laptop is linked to it for Power Points or searching the Internet with the class, a video/DVD player is linked to it and even a microscope has been hooked up to it. The image is large, clear and bright, no more kids in the back complaining that they can't see. With so much use it was inevitable that the light bulb died recently. I knew they were expensive but I shopped around on the net and found one for a mere $265. But it's still worth it for the convenience of having the projector in my room every day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Over a year of service, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Sharp XR-11XC Multimedia DLP Projector (Office Product)
Great projector for the money. I got over a year of service out of this trouble free. I use it as my home entertainment/computer monitor. We watch movies, tv, play video games, check email, and everything else with this as the main monitor. A good video card cuts out the blurring some have experienced with action sequences. This isn't as noticeable on smaller monitors they have hooked up to their computers. I get a 5'X8' picture without a bulky tv taking up half the room and it looks great. Now for the bad. After a year of hard usage, it has developed a temperature problem. It kept overheating, so I replaced the bulb. That was easy to do, but it still overheated. Cleaned out the vents before replacing the bulb. Now I have a fan blowing the hot air away from it while I'm operating the projector. This has cured the problem. Also, as it is an older model, no digital inputs. I have to use adapters between my computer's dvi inputs and the vga inputs on the projector. This isn't such a big deal now, but it certainly does shorten the life of this projector. Great deal for the next year or two though. I won't be replacing mine before then. Btw, most video cards come with the dvi-vga adapters, so don't fret.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good picture, but bulbs burn out too fast, March 3, 2009

I have had this projector for a little over a year now. My third bulb has just burned out. Don't expect to get anywhere near the advertised lifespan on your lamp. Around 800 hours is the lifespan of the bulb, and each one costs over $250. So think about it carefully. If you plan on using a projector every day, this one will cost you at least $500 / year in bulb replacements.
