5.0 out of 5 stars Not really just for old people . . .
When I picked up this book, I thought to myself, "I probably don't need to read this book for about 20 years, when my mind gets old." Not the case at all! This book lends exceptional advice for anyone at any age. It's a plethora of fabulous ideas on how to conduct a healthy, productive life from beginning to end. Dr. Seiden hits another homerun!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Having memory issues are scary..., February 11, 2012
This review is from: Sharpening The Aging Mind - Methods, Tips & Tricks to Keep Your Mind Super Sharp (Boomer Book Series) (Kindle Edition)
I am really grateful that a doctor and a psychologist would team up to write a book about memory issues. Is it a medical condition, is a physical one, is it merely just stress. When you are informed about what is really happening, dealing with it is so much easier. Sharpening the Aging Mind is a wonderful resource!

This review is from: Sharpening The Aging Mind - Methods, Tips & Tricks to Keep Your Mind Super Sharp (Boomer Book Series) (Kindle Edition)
Sharpening the Aging Mind is an amazing book to really help baby boomers shift their consciousness about aging. If you've ever set your keys down and couldn't remember where you put them, and then thought perhaps you're getting Alzheimer's, this book is for you. You're not getting Alzheimer's, you've just slipped into a state of being inattentive.

Dr. Seiden book gives you tools to sharpen your mind and avoid those scary moments when you really think you're losing it. It dispels the myth that old dogs can't learn new tricks. We actually can learn better than young minds because of our wealth of information as a foundation for generativity. This book helps you utilize the advantages that age puts before you.

This review is from: Sharpening The Aging Mind - Methods, Tips & Tricks to Keep Your Mind Super Sharp (Boomer Book Series) (Kindle Edition)
This book relieved my anxieties over what I thought was a failing memory. It explained the difference between memory lapses and those caused merely by distraction! It further taught me how to remedy my bad habits - the ones that were causing my perceived memory problems. What a relief - and what a great tool to help me sharpen my memory.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was delighted by the way my memory seemed to improve, May 21, 2008
This review is from: Sharpening The Aging Mind - Methods, Tips & Tricks to Keep Your Mind Super Sharp (Boomer Book Series) (Kindle Edition)
as soon as I realized what really was behind my 'forgetting things.' Use Sharpening the Aging mind to find out that my memory is still in tact and that my previous 'lapses' were not due to Alzhiermer's, instead due to my pre-occupation with other things. This book helped me overcome this by teaching me a few, very valuable tricks to avoid being distracted when I'm doing something I need to remember later.

5.0 out of 5 stars A simple explanation for what's really going on with your memory..., August 27, 2008
This book is written by a retired physician and his psychologist wife, both of whom see memory problems in their practice and in their friends on a daily basis. The fear in these people that emerges when they can't remember something they just did is genuine. Drs Seiden and Bilett set out to explain what was going on and hopefully - in the majority of cases, ease the fear because it's probably nothing to worry about. But memory is something that you can improve and live easier and also reduce your chances of getting a dread memory disorder.

The simple explanation of the differences in short term memory, long term memory and immediate memory were so enlightening, that chapter alone was worth the price of the book.
