2.0 out of 5 stars Mini Fridge, February 3, 2005
This review is from: Sharper Image Hot+Cold Mini Fridge (SI714SL2)
I bought this refrigerator mainly to keep cold drinks in it so I don't have to run down stairs in the middle of the night. It's a great little fridge with lots of power and keeps the drinks pretty cold and keeps them cold quick. It's very easy to use too. All you do is plug it in and select which mode you want on the back of the fridge: hot or cold. This product does have its flaws and usability problems though. In the middle of the fridge there is a useless shelf that gets in the way so you can't store pop cans in there or anything around that size. This was my main use of the fridge, so you can see a problem here. The shelf was not adjustable, unless u just wanted to remove it completely. If you removed the shelf the pop cans wouldn't stack up evenly inside. There was also another problem I had with the fridge. After having the fridge for around 2-3 months, the button on the back would just stop working. The button would get stuck in the middle somehow and when u went to put it on cold, it just wouldn't work. I bought the fridge 2 times after, and the same problem happened again. If you want a reliable fridge, do not buy this model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharper Image Hot+Cold Mini Fridge, November 22, 2004

I bought this refrigerator after some research on the web. I use it in my newborn daughters room to keep her bottles cold until we use them. This sure beats going down the stairs to the kitchen at 1am to feed her and then again at 4am and then again at...you get the idea.
This is the larger of two that sharper image has. This one has a lot of space inside, nice door bins, but a useless shelf if you plan on putting anything over about 5 inches in it (it is dead in the middle of the fridge. It keeps the bottles as cold as our full size kitchen refrigerator and has a low noise level. It actually has a consistent fan noise instead of a compressor noise of most mini fridges (it uses some sort of semiconductor technology versus a compressor). This noise is actually a welcome white noise in the babies room.
I would recommend this fridge to anyone looking for a medium size mini fridge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, quiet, cold, April 4, 2005

I purchased a refurbished one for a very low price and found it to be vastly superior to others I have tried. It makes less noise than a typical personal computer and is barely noticable under the desk. Mine keeps items below 38F in an office @ about 68-74F with minimal running.
One important thing is to keep it with enough items in to give it some thermal inertia, that way it doesn't need to constantly turn off and on.
The Peltier type heat exchanger is also good because anything with compressed gases requires approval on certain manufacturing sites in certain areas for obvious saftey reasons.
