When buying this opener, I thought the word Sharper referred to the brand. Well, my wife cut herself on the first can she opened. The opener cuts the side of the can instead of the top. The lid itself is not sharp, but the can is! This opener works well, but keep it away from kids. Better safe than sorry.

Don't be cheap,

The can opener sounded great, but reality was that I was putting batteries in every few days-buy a good electric opener or you will be sorry.

After reading reviews I decided to purchase this opener instead of the One-Touch. Apparently they both have the same problem - they EAT batteries. This one opened 3 cans before stopping. And once it does stop it is virutally impossible to dislodge it from the lid of the can without prying it. After doing that, we tried again with new batteries. It made it through one can and died through a second. A piece of junk! I expected more from Sharper Image.

This item is great! The only problem with it is that it is a little tricky to get it started. I got this for my mom for Christmas and our old can opener died, so I opened this and was truly thrilled with it. So, I am keeping this one and buying another for my mom.

I thought that this item would have helped my wife with her daily chores but to my great surprise this Item only opened one can and failed to start. After trying two new set of batteries I have decide that it was money badly spent. The idea of the opener was good but this particular product has no durability.

I bought this as a gift for my mother for Christmas. On her first attempt to use it, it got stuck on the can. She had several people try to help her get it off the can but just couldn't. She finally came to my house and I got it off the can. I think she might have tried to use it more like an old fashioned can opener and jammed it on the can before using it.Once we got it off the can, we practiced with several cans and it worked great. All you need to do is place it on the can and push the button. Let it complete its cycle and take it off. The opener must complete its cycle before you can take it off the can. Note: If for some reason the can is in mid cycle and not on a can, you wont be able to get it started on a can. The wheels need to be in a certain position to get started. It took me a while to figure that out. After figuring all this out (directions don't say much)the can works great and my mother is happy.

This is a handy gizmo for someone like me who suffers with chronic tendonitis in both hands/wrists/fingers. Cans with pull tabs are especially frustrating so I just turn the can over and open the bottom instead. So far, the Handsfree can opener works as advertized. The Sharper Image employee showed me how to open the battery compartment as it is a bit tricky at first.

This can opener is ideal for anyone who has a problem with her hands. I have chronic tendinitis in my right thumb, so the twisting and turning needed with a mechanical opener is a problem. An electric stand can opener would work for me ... but where do I find the counter space? My mother-in-law is 83 and does not have a lot of strength in her hands. She liked this can opener so much, we gave her one for Christmas! And besides, we chuckle at the way this can opener "wiggles" as it opens a can. Love it!

I got this item for my gandmother for christmas and she loves using it. Very easy to manipulate and doesn't leave those aweful sharp edges so I have no worries if she or I drop the lid of a kid or pet was around. I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking for an easy to use and well preforming can opener.
