More expensive, but at least they're better then this cheap piece of junk.

I did not like the non-button page turn sensor because it would sometimes not work and sometimes work without me wanting it to work.

I've read that the memory has some kind of problem, but what I've done lately is remove a few, then it's fine.

Yes, it malfunctioned slightly when I got it. But I realized that this common malfunction that is so redundant in reviews, (the screen going weird thus making the item unworkable) was only because upon initial use, the user did not fully charge the unit. I had gotten the same issue, so I plugged it back into the outlet and charged it as far as it would go. Then it worked fine. The firmware did have to be updated for the device to have all the good functions, and I found that you have to let it fully boot before you can plug it into your pc or there will be an issue. Many people take their criticism to far for devices that they buy (eg-the keys are too small, it feels cheap. not bright enough, not clear enough, etc) But think of the price you paid for it. Honestly, unless you are missing four fingers, you can operate the device. It is not so hard. Look at reviews before buying of course, but think of what you are getting for the price. It is a nice unit once you know how to use it, (not to mention having a tiny bit of brainpower.) Sorry if this seems harsh, but I don't like people that post bad reviews because they are not intelligent enough to either get to know the unit or buy another kind that a chimp can operate.

This e-reader offers a color screen at a bargain-basement price. The real star of the hardware show here is the 7-inch color LCD screen. It's bright and crisp, and with no problem reading on it for hours with the brightness turned down.

Navigating through a small library of books is easy enough, since they're mostly arranged in vertical lists, or on virtual shelves where there covers are easy to see.

You can get up to 6 hours of reading time on a charge, with the Wi-Fi switched off most of the time.

One of the main draws of the color screen, of course, is the ability to read periodicals on the device.

And applaud the company for updating the Literati's software regularly!

The Sharper Image Literati 7-in. eReader

I didn't know what to expect. This is my first ereader. Not bad for a new person. Once it was fully charged and I got all the essentials loaded on my computer,(Kobo, Barnes and Noble, etc) I was good to go. The only problen I seem to have is that it doesn't hold a charge very long. Downloading each chapter draws the strength down rapidly. But for now I'm safisfied.
When I grow up i'll be back.(smile)

I liked this ereader alot. It was nice to have the color technology but i was pretty harsh on my eyes. Yes you do have the brightness adjustment function but it didn't really help. I did not like the non-button page turn sensor because it would sometimes not work and sometimes work without me wanting it to work. The Kobo store was nice and i liked having all the books at my fingertips (alot of the books are free!) but if you are getting this product for the discounted ebooks the i suggest getting a Kindle or the Simple Touch Nook. These ereaders are great and have the revolutionary eink display(so they don't hurt your eyes and save battery life!).

They have quit making the literati and when you get it it will most likely have old software on it and it will not update like it should and therefore will not work. Tech support is absolutely no help. There is a way to update the software on the internet, but apparently tech support doesn't know about. it,s actually a nice e reader for the price if you can get it to work, but you will have to update it on your own.
