Doesn't do much,

The lowdown:
Got this Ionic Breeze 2.0 for free after buying the Hybrid GP. Retail value is $79.95. In theory the product is supposed to freshen the air and trap dirt. Well, does it? Yes. But then the real question is - how effective is it? I plugged the 2.0 in my bathroom and it runs 24x7. I clean it at least once a week and I do find dirt trapped in its collector plates. Unlke the motherload gigantic Hybrid GP that you can smell the change in clean air when you enter/exit a room, this tiny version can only do so much. And in a high traffic area like the bathroom where the door opens and closes to introduce more "unclean" air, the product has to work hard to constantly clean the air. To do this on this small scale product - the door has to be shut and you can only feel fresh air after a few hours. Design: Simple. Not space-age looking. Blends well in a wall socket and allows the use of the second outlet below. It has a soft orange glow to act as a night light. Cleaning: Just pull out the small collector plate and wipe with a soft damp cloth. For dirt trapped in the single ionizing wire, gently shake the product itself to let the bead slide up and down the wire. Careful because this is a thin, fragile wire. So do this gently and on rare occassions. How do you know the ionizing wire is dirty? You'll hear a faint zapping sound. Its definitely dirt trapped on the vibrating wire. Performance: Like I mentioned above, its too small of a product to make a difference in a high traffic area. Perhaps if this was in a closet that was rarely opened... The product shorted out after I cleaned the blades with a damp cloth and put it back after a few minutes only. When I plugged it back, no air coming out and a slight burning smell. Unplugged immediately and never worked. Again, unlike it's bigger performing brother, this can't handle any sign of moisture in the blades or you would short the components. The Hybrid GP can handle a moist blade and has a built in drying feature if it detects such occurence. With this product, it just burns out. Scary. And this is confirmed by the product's sticker label that issues the same warning. I did bring it to the store and without question they replaced it. I am keeping the product only because it's free. Otherwise, I wouldn't buy this product for any price, let alone $79.95! If I were to spend toward $100, I'll just save up some more for a larger and higher performing Ionic Breeze. Hope this helps out with the purchasing decision. Get it if it was given for free with a more expensive purchase. Otherwise, pass.

Great with Cats,

I got this to help with the catbox smell in one of the smaller rooms in my house. It works quite well, as long as you keep cleaning the blades once or twice a week. There is a really high-pitched hum coming from the unit but most people can't hear it, and it's only noticeable withing two feet.

I bought this for my bedroom. I share a house with other people so I figured I'd spend a lot of time in my room. This thing works great. Every time I come home my room smells fresh and clean. However, I cleaned it after about 2 weeks and now it makes this loud hissing sound constantly. It's very annoying especially considering it didn't do that before I cleaned it. But I plug it in before I leave and still works great.

Great product! We have small rooms so I use it in every room. Works great in eliminating dirty diaper odor in my baby's room. Just clean it regularly.

The items I ordered are actually working. I can feel it moves air when I put my hand near its outlet. It is complete silent or quieter than florescent light bulb. It gives a smell close to a water fall in forests(Is that defined as fresh?). It is definitely good for a bathroom sized room possibly a larger room. In my opinion they are worth $15, but at the original price $79 I would not buy.

Good, but worth $59?,

I got this free w/ my Fresher Longer set (which is great). You will notice a different in a small bathroom with a bleach kinda smell, so I guess it's working. A large room you will not notice the diffence.
When I cleaned it there was black stuff in it. Almost soot-like. Makes me wonder if I have a mold problem as we don't smoke. But, we do cook a lot. I would not pay $59 for this, but I am temped to try a larger one.

Does it's job, barely...,

I've had this air ionizer since I moved into college, and actually have had it a lot longer but never really used it.
See my college is near a beach, so it tends to get a musty smell when people haven't lived in it for a while. It does it's job in getting rid of the musty smell, but that's about it. Everything else? Well, not so much... My roommates frequently grill stuff on the stove, but leave some nasty smells lingering around from burning stuff. This does as good of a job as cracking open the window and just passively venting the smells out. I would clean this weekly and it would make this horrible sparking noise, very faint though. I found out that this cleaner uses electro-static pulses to grab dust and dirt (among other foul things) out of the air, and attach it to the metal blades. The problem is, it can prevent somewhat of a fire hazard if you don't frequently clean it. Even just cleaning the removable blades isn't enough. It's a pain... But it kind of does what it's supposed to do. Is it worth buying? Not really. If you can get one from a friend and test it out, I say by all means do it, but I wouldn't want to buy it unless you're sure it does what it wants you to do.

I have had a very similar experience to another person who rated this product. It doesnt work that well, and I have got the burning smell also. I actually had blue sparks in mine when I plugged it in. Sharper Image also took mine back with no problem. I do not recommend this product.

Annoying hum!!!,

I can't say if it works well or not since the high pitched hum that this unit generates is so annoying that I immediately removed and returned it. It is not loud just really annoying. Most people seem to not notice it which I find baffling. I am not a bat nor do I have super human hearing and I live in a NYC apartment which means it's plenty noisy already but I could still hear the hum which is almost painful it is so high pitched.

No filters, just wipe and clean. It is currently being used in the office which is bigger than the intended area of a bathroom and the like. A laser printer and fax are next to me and you should see after one week what I wiped off! Great bargain considering a lot of the others contain a commitment of filters to purchase.
