Only time will tell if they are as good as they seem at the moment.

These "industrial" markers are minimally more expensive than the same brand "permanent" markers, yet far superior in durability of ink.

I love this marker in extra fine because you can write in a very small space.

Purchased these markers for marking lab tubes for blood and specimen containers. I needed these "industrial" markers because the ink from same-brand, simple "permanent" markers would bleed when not given enough time to dry and were exposed to liquid. These "industrial" markers are minimally more expensive than the same brand "permanent" markers, yet far superior in durability of ink. Regular permanent ink is soluble in non-polar liquid (acetone) even when dry, and requires a measurable dry time to set before being insoluble with water. Draw width is only slightly wider than a ball point pen. These markers are perfect for any application requiring solid, fast professional marking where truly permanent ink is invaluable.

Great product! Write on glass, polished surfaces, wood, plastic, plastic bags and boxes, silver, copper, gold, not as well on some brass but I am not sure it was not coated.
It is permanent. I can erase it with acetone but not alcohol.
I don't EVER want to run out of these guys!
Now, If they will just make them clickable they will be PERFECT!

I really dislike the regular Sharpie Fine Point markers. They fade easily, which is annoying, but worst (to me) is that they never last very long. I write on plant labels as I propagate plants and each week I need to pot up 10-30 plants, so use it a few times a week for 10 to 15 minutes. I went through a 12 pack of the regular fine points in just a few months.

The Industrial one lasted almost two months. Still not as long as I'd like, but a LOT longer than the regular ones.

I also like the point better. It doesn't get flattened at all and the ink doesn't fade in the humidity and under the lighting for the plants.

I hand stamp designs on metal (silver, brass, aluminum, gold filled, copper, etc). I then use a sharpie to darken the stamped recessed area. I finish my jewelry with a jewelers sealant which keeps the metal shiny and helps with preventing allergic type reactions for metal sensitive customers. When using a "Regular" sharpie, the ink would either fade or turn purple after the sealer has been applied. I have had great success with the industrial sharpies. The lettering or designs show up nice and dark and they stay that way. I tested a piece out with the industrial markers and after 3 months of wear and use the letters are still dark and not purple. With the other markers, the purple showed up anytime from after the sealer dried up to a week or two later. I had tried different sealers and was about to give up on the sharpie method until I discovered the industrial formula. I buy a box whenever I get down to my last 2 or 3. I don't want to be without these markers on my jewelers bench.

Somehow the word "industrial" made me think these markers would write on anything. That's marketing for you.

I've found that these markers are great on some surfaces (especially plain ole paper), but I tried using them on some glossy padded envelopes and fliers and they just smeared on them -- strange, because my standard Sharpies work just fine on them.

I probably wouldn't purchase these again because of the limited surface types that they work on, but if you're just looking for a sharp-point pen for matte surfaces (cardboard, etc.), you should be fine with these.

It behaves mostly like a normal black Sharpie marker. Writing is legible, and the tip size is small enough for fine writing.

I've found that 70% ethanol degrades the readability and durability of the ink. It seems to completely dissolve and wash away in 100% organic solvents, 100% ethanol, and 100% methanol (see image). It DOES, however, stand up better to 70% ethanol than normal Sharpie ink - the latter substantially dissolves and smudges, while the super permanent ink loses a layer and fades, but doesn't smudge unless you rub it. In my opinion, these properties fall somewhat short of the claims "super permanent" and "specially formulated for industrial, laboratory, and commercial use," since those claims made me expect it to be more durable.

* EDIT: Was going to submit an image of plastic tubes with unsprayed labels, sprayed with 70% ethanol (faded but not smeared), and 100% ethanol (completely gone), but that option doesn't exist anymore.

I was looking for a marker that would not wash off in water for marking seedlings in flats and plants in the garden on plastic and wooden stakes. This is the only product that has worked. I submersed samples in a jar of water over a month ago and they are still very readable both on plastic and wood. I am disappointed that Sharpie would call their other markers "permanent" when the ink washes off with the slightest bit of water.
