Have owned one of these pens for a couple of years now. I always turn to it when I want to mark something with extra-large permanent lettering and it never let me down. Ink flow has been consistent, seems to stick to any surface, and to withstand exposure to a variety of environments. This is of note: the ink in this particular Sharpie black marker contains cresol and xylene, and one or the other of them will slowly bleed into any surface that contains latex. Weird, but here's the story:

I wanted to use a black ink pen to outline some sails on some miniature boats I was making. I first did this with one of the smaller black sharpie pens, and got the effect I was looking for: a black line around the edge of the sail. The sails are made of regular cotton cloth soaked in a clear latex "glaze" to prevent fraying. When I tried this again several days later on a different boat, the outcome initially seemed identical: a crisp black edge. However, over the next several days the edges of the sails on the second boat began bleeding into the rest of the sail.

THIS WAS A GOOD THING. The slowly-penetrating ink made the edges of the sails look weathered, antiqued, and this was highly desirable but totally unexpected and did not happen with the smaller Sharpie pens (whose ink never bled, never antiqued my sails). The only chemical difference in pens is the presence of cresol and xylene, and one or the other of them allows this kind of pen's ink to continue to flow into a latex-painted surface for weeks after application. This process is sped up by warmth.

Does a great job writing big, in permanent ink. Smells of chemicals, but that's to be expected from such a large marker. It's just the normal chemicals used to make the ink I'm sure. I'd buy it again if the price was right.

It's a big honkin black marker. Works like a charm writing on 2x2 posts I use in the garden to mark plantings.

Definitely a big Sharpie but there is bigger. Guess I should have double check the name before I ordered it. I actually wanted the Sharpie Magnum.

I keep this Sharpie King Size Marker by my desk whenever I go through my mail. I use it to blackout the name and address before tossing the junk mails into the trash (recycle, of course). Using only one stroke, it goes great on every kind of paper, including the glossy ones. (It has a very strong paint smell, so you need to keep your distance whenever you use this marker.) I bought this marker last September and have been using it every day. The ink is still dark. Great product!

I feel a little silly writing a review about a marker but this one is worth praise. It's so handy to have a good thick marker; once you have it, uses just appear. One of the reasons I bought it was the claim that it could write on wet surfaces and hold up outdoors. I have a few things outside that I've written on, like a trash can lid for yard waste pick-up, and with a regular marker, I have to keep re-writing the words since they fade. So far, despite a lot of rain, the lettering done with this sharpie hasn't washed off. It makes a good strong line but has a slanted tip so you can opt for a somewhat finer point if needed. Lastly, a number of reviewers commented on the strong chemical scent. I can't argue that but have to say I actually kind of like it - I like the scent of gasoline too - so whether it'd bother you probably depends upon your sensitivity to chemical aromas.

Sharpie marker--works great even on wet freezer foil--nice size chisel tip--deep black color--strong fumes but this is expected for this type of marker--be careful not to get it on items not desired to be marked as it is permanent

Great Marker by a great brand. The smell isn't overwhelming like other black markers and it writes real well. The bleeding is minimum.
