1.0 out of 5 stars very disappointed
Every single marker in the box was defective! It seems as if the ink was dried up...I had to have a scrap sheet of paper handy before using these pens so that I could get them started by scribbling on the scrap paper first. A real pain!

It seems pointless or even funny to review something as common as a 12 pack of Sharpies. The fact of the matter is it's worth reviewing. These are high quality permanent markers. Without a doubt Sharpie is the trusted name in permanent writing utensils. During my entire life I have been calling black permanent markers as Sharpies, a testament to its popularity. The reason Sharpie is so good is that it is completely safe, and highly permanent and very reliable. For anyone worried about ingestion, or eye contact, or even any other safety situation with a Sharpie, should rest assured. Under all normal circumstances Sharpie is very safe, in fact if you want more information it can be easily accessed from their MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) readily available on their website. Although I myself have been using Sharpies to identify my own clothes, Sanford (the company that produces Sharpies) highly recommends not using it on clothes as it can run or bleed in the wash, and also after time it may leave a yellow halo around the marking. Although Sharpie claims that it will "remain permanent under most chemical washes, and extreme heat and steam (up to 500 degrees F)" it is possible to remove it form clothes. They claim that stain remover can work, but to use extreme caution. A detailed summery of how to clean a stained garment can be found on their website FAQ. Sharpie is the highest quality permanent marker I have ever used, it is used frequently in my workplace, and is always reliable. I suggest it to everyone; it is also made in the U.S.A., which presents a trusted quality. A very good permanent marker, 5 out of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Nearly All Surface Pen, August 25, 2005
This review is from: Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Markers, 12 Black Markers(30001) (Office Product)
You could wonder why anyone would wax enthusiastic about a pen, but Sharpie fine-point markers are outstanding for a huge variety of applications. They write on plastic freezer and storage bags without smearing. They write on 3M Post-It Flags neatly and with the fine point you can actually write small enough to write something useful.

These markers also seem to last a long time if you take care to cap them as soon as you are finished with them. You also need to be careful not to get the tips wet or to damage the tip, but as long as you do not drop the pen on its tip it is reasonably durable.

We have tried a lot of different pens and markers for writing on plastic, and have had limited success. Many pens seem to take forever to dry or will not mark on plastic. Magic Markers work, but they are too wide and have an unlovely smell. So far Sharpie permanent fine-point markers avoid these problems, and provide sharp print for nearly all labeling needs. In fact, I will warn you that you should take care what you write on, because once you have used the Sharpie, it can be nearly impossible to get the ink out.

I use this marker on my socks. I write an "S" on the bottom of each sock to make sure that no one else attempts to claim them. Wash after wash, the letter is still there.

I also use it to write in my school books. I'm in college and books are very expensive. I write my name in all of my books, as well as on my notebooks and disks.

I have accidentally gotten this on my hand more than once. I just wash my hands with soap and water. It may take 2 or 3 hand washings to get it off.

These markers are also great for posters because the line is thick enough for poster board.

Other Amazon reviewers noted that the Sharpie permanent ultra fine point markers come in handy as an artistic tool and as a permanent marker for bags like the ones that that store food in your freezer--and they are right. This pen is able to do a wide range of things regarding labeling, drawing and even writing on glass, foil and rubber. Excellent!

The Sharpie black ink is excellent quality and it will never let you down; these pens last a good while. It's economical to buy them in a twelve pack, too.

One drawback to these pens--the ink becomes nearly impossible to remove once you've written on tape or drawn something on paper. Think of that before you use these to write and draw! Another caveat: don't use these to write on media like blank CD-Rs and blank DVD-Rs. The ink eventually will seep through the thin upper coating of the disc and then compromise your data, music or video stored on that disc. (In fact, don't write with anything on the actual discs.) Also keep in mind that although these are called "ultra fine" markers the ink is much thicker than a fine tipped ballpoint pen.

The ink in the Sharpie ultra fine pens stays fresh just so long as you close the cap completely before putting the pen away. Be sure to do that or the ink can easily dry out.

Overall, these markers by Sharpie are probably some of the most versatile pens out there. Sharpie calls them a marker but you can also think of them as a pen.

Use them in good health!

At the store, 2 Sharpie markers cost $3.00. Here I got 12 Sharpie markers for $4.00! Tried out all the markers when I got them and they all work. Not a single dry one in the bunch! And not some cheap copycat, they really are Sharpies! So glad I didn't buy from the store... it would have cost me $18.00 for the same dozen!

Sharpies are Sharpies, they are a great felt tip marker, great fine tip when you first get them, and they always seem to work. The best part of 12packs is they become cheep. I get the boxes because they seem to walk away and get left places. I really don't know what to say but if you are needing a marker, then get 12 of them because you will always loose one.

The dozen Black fine point Sharpies arrived very promptly, and as sharpies are, good right out of the box. Things need marking and writing on, and Sharpies are the leader in the field. I recently ordered a variety color assortments for a friend of mine who is going to college. She is eager to start marking in multiple colors. Sharpies are fun! You probably shouldn't give them to little kids.

I love these markers and the way they write. 12 in a box is a good value here on Amazon.com.

I was used to the regular sharpie that kind of spreads out after it is used a couple of times. This one doesnt work that way it is very fine. I use it in place of a regular pen. The only time that is a problem is that it can bleed through paper easily. Great markers.

I use Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Markers for lots of things -- but I especially like to use them for writing checks. The concentrated black color provides, I feel, a measure of security. And, because so much of banking today is done on line, when you want to see a canceled check on your bank's web site, this ink makes the details that you've written easier to see.

They are also great for addressing packages. Once again, the ink gives an extra degree of security.

These are good pens!
