I use brown markers at the cabinet shop. Out of all the colors that come in a 'Sharpie' kit, brown is the most valueable (next to maybe an almond color). I use white paint markers or fill sticks for the white melamine when needed. When I seen this brown marker kit (12!)-I just had to have it. Sure beats buying a complete color kit when all I really want is the brown!

We use sharpies around our house for about everything we mostly use black and we buy them by the box of twelve. We also use red, brown and blue. Since they seem to last so long and we buy some colors by the 5 pack. We do use a lot of these brown ones and we have actually found that they are great for touching up scratches on finished furniture and wood work. You can even touch the spot and quickly wipe it with a tissue to rub the color to the darkness you want to have. What I like about Sharpies is:

* They last a long time
* The ink dries fast
* The ink is pretty much permanent but you can wipe it off of things like CDs with an alcohol swap. (the sooner the better)
* With the shape of the fine tip pen you can write a thin line or bold by using the side of the pen nib.
* The ink quickly dies and then it is smear proof which is good for stacking piles of disks you are making to back up your photos or marking the recovery disks for your PC software.

We write the purchase date on stored food items or medicine bottles and boxes to always use the oldest first. We also mark the spare packages of batteries with the expiration date to use the older ones first. There are limitless uses for these permanent marking pens. We have used other types of pens but the Sharpies have the best pen tips and last the longest. Just keep the cap on after you are done. We love these pens and they are in every drawer of the house. They are also great to mark the outside of boxes for storage or for shipping items and writing the RMA numbers or address on the outside of the box.

These are great pens and we use then a lot and like them. I recommend them to you.

This might seem crazy, but it has a double purpose:

Not only for writing with anymore -- I actually used it to
spot touch my hair roots. It really works on brown
hair. There are just those days where you don't have
enough time to have your roots touched up, or
when your hair is over processed -- well you
can use this marker and quickly get rid of grays --
it's only temporary, but at least your not using
one of those really expensive hair color sprays that
disperses all over the bathroom or your clothing.

* Don't touch your scalp with the color and
just know initially it smells like marker --
it washes out in one wash.

PROS: Use it for hair root touch ups (keep in purse)
Very quick and easy to use
Goes only where you need it
Very inexpensive
Has dual purpose

CONS: Smells funny initially (use a spray of perfume in hair afterwards)
Washes out -- Don't get caught in the rain

I'm so glad that Sharpies come in a lot of different colors. I use the colors to touch up little nicks and scratches on furniture. It works very well if you find the right color. You can also keep a cloth in one hand and mark and immediately wipe to control the darkness of the mark. These brown markers are just right for some wood and some wicker that I have. Works better than the touch-up pens that come with some cabinets.

This marker performed according to expectations. It covers areas in which the brown color was accidentally bleached out. So far, the color seems to be permanent and while is impossible to make an absolutely perfect match to the previous color, it is close enough for all intents and purposes.

I ordered brown markers for writing on quilt squares for my daughters wedding. Tried them on a sample piece and they worked beautifully. Didn't bleed or smug on the fabric. Glided on the material. Would recommend them.
