Another Wonderful Album from Sada Sat Kaur,
By Shannon "pahvog" (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shashara (Audio CD)
Where ANGEL'S WALTZ was a wonderful introduction to the beautiful musical mantras of Sada Sat Kaur, SHASHARA goes even further presenting even more impressive offerings. The Western Traditional ONG NAMO GURU DEV NAMO is wonderfully warm and relaxing where NAAM KUMAREE will entice you to sing along. My favorite, MUL MANTRA, has been the background music in my mind since I first listened to this collection.
Impeccably produced, this CD is sure to please anyone with an affinity for yoga, meditation or mantra. Highest Rating.

Shashara makes me happy,

Shashara makes me happy. Sada Sat Kaur's voice goes
right into my heart and makes me feel like dancing. The accompanying musical instruments are rich in detail and vibrancy. The CD has a natural rhythm from start to finish crescendoing in Naam Kumaree and then easing the listener down into the bliss of recognising Gobinday Mukanday as our true Source. Love it Love it Love it!

Elevate your world with these beautiful mantras.,

Receiving this CD truly turned a bad day upside-down. It's been playing in our home almost constantly since it's arrival.
The first thing that struck me after listening through completely once, was how whole and centered and loved this CD made me feel. Most of the mantras are ones I have heard her sing in person, and the power of her presence comes pouring out through her voice. The sound just cocoons you. After listening to it in it's entirety for a few days now, I can truly say this is music that transforms. Everything feels different when this is on. I'm at home with 2 young children and having these mantras playing can definitely smooth out the rough spots...both for me and the kids. The energy feels lighter, emotions are diffused, and we can all enjoy each other a bit more. It's music that sweeps you along with it. One stand-out favorite for us...the recording of the Mul Mantra gets bodies moving with it's super infectious beat. Even if I'm cooking dinner I find I'm grooving along. It's something noticeable throughout the recording...the melodies and background music are catchy. You get the traditional sounds of the instruments and the words, but there is something modern underlying it all that ties it all together and makes it very appealing to a wide range of people.

a universal and elegant cd for all,
By
This review is from: Shashara (Audio CD)
This album is without a doubt one of the best and most universal albums I have ever heard. The Emmylou Harris-sounding vocals and the contemporary rock ballad-like guitar mixed with the ancient Indian dialect of Gurmukhi is extraordinarily multi-purpose oriented. Not only will the record appeal to the singer/songwriter in you but it will also tap into the metaphysical part of you, with its mantras and helpful translations of the eloquent prayers. The harmonies are modern and sophisticated and translate beautifully with the help of Paula Cole's softened and luscious background vocals. Another effective element of the album and one that contributes to its overall artistic value is its sophisticated artwork. The ghostly visual of Sada Sat Kaur herself on the cover is at once haunting and invigorating with its flashes of green, purple, and gold. Once flipped open, the jacket blooms with an energizing green that leads you to read the mantras, take them in, and then pop the cd in to your stereo - almost as if it was a step-by-step process to achieving serenity for the day. With all of its diverse elements, this album is one so unanimously brilliant that you will want to play it in your car or import into your on-the-go playlist on your iPod when you go for a run. Play it at a hip metropolitan dinner party or in your bedroom right before you go to sleep. Either way, you will be struck by this record's ability to fulfill all your musical needs.

This a wonderfully uplifting and inspiring album. Everyone who has heard it has wanted a copy and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys soulful times. The lyrics and vocals are hauntingly beautiful and they, along with mesmerizing instrumentals, make this a must have album for everyone. Absolutely wonderful!

sharing the beautiful,

This review is from: Shashara (Audio CD)
really blown away by the album.. kundalini yoga is not just someone explaining poses..it is a link through the teacher to the infinite.. and a beautiful album is not just a person playing muscial notes.. i felt sada sats life, her commitment, her love coming through the beautiful songs...
I played most of it in a class the past few weeks.( i teach yoga). the ajai alai for opening the class and the adi manta being a emerging favorite song ... music is a pathway sada sat can share her love through....i'll have to look at the album to remember, but there are songs that she has some guest singers on and i love that.. it really feels like people joining in to expand the feeling that is unfolding , and it makes me want to sing along even more..i talked about sada sat and her music at a workshop on success.. explaining how she is building a new home/center and creates time to make an album.. very inspiring artist and human being...

Sada Sat has held down the vibes for the conscious music scene for years, sharing her gift of music and devotion. One thing I need to say. She is not performing...this is who she is. She is this earthy and real.
This work is another great addition to her catalogue. I am especially happy to see that she recorded tracks 4, 6 and 7, after having heard her sing these pieces LIVE. Thanks again, Dharam Singh Millis, MA

Sada Sat Kaur's music is JOY.,

I listened to Sada Sat Kaur's new CD today (at the gym of all places!!). It was GREAT!!!!
What I love about her voice is how GROUNDED it is. There are several artists I enjoy who sing this "type" of music (I hear it in yoga class all the time!)...and many of them have this ethereal, "other-worldly" quality to their voices. Sada Sat Kaur's sound has a much richer resonance....it's Mothering, and Comforting...AND, it's catchy! I found myself singing along. (My workout went by FAST!) I also like the packaging very much AND the inclusion of the meditation poses for each piece. The photographs are compelling. |
